Back in July I had fasting glucose & insulin levels drawn. I got a call from my doctor's nurse and she said that everything was completely normal. Well, this week I requested my lab results so that I could see them because a friend of mine had hers drawn and was in the pre-diabetic range and was told *don't worry about it* and sent on her way. She goes to the same doctor as me so I was wondering if I had received a full truth.
Can anyone help me make sense of these numbers???
Fasting Glucose: 90mg/dl (78-110 is normal)
Fasting Insulin: 14uU/ml (2.6-25 is normal) Insulin/Glucose: 19 (0-17.52 is normal)
So that last one is the one the concerns me. I know that it isn't super high, but it is high nonetheless and considering my diagnosis with PCOS and fitting with many of the symptoms of IR shouldn't I have been informed of that high level?
I've searched on the internet and can't really figure out what (if anything) this high level means. Does the level indicate insulin resistance? If anyone knows or can share their experiences I would really appreciate it.

Change doctors. I have an endocrinologist that has changed my life. I had the SAME fasting insulin level (14) and my doc told me that was too high. You can search online and see that a 14 is an indicator of insulin resistance and PCOS. My doc put me on 2000 mg of Metformin as a result and it has changed everything. It's been about 8 mos since I started the Metformin and my weight is gradually dropping. I have more energy and don't have the "munchies" nearly as bad. I just had my first follow-up appt and my insulin was down to 6 but my doc wants it to go as low as it can... and he said it will continue to drop over time as my weight drops which is also helped by the lower insulin levels.
I hope this helps.

wow...not even kidding that happened to me too! Mine was 14 too and he said that 1)it was my blood sugar that was off(when it was actually normal) and 2) he said that I needed to start taking met because that way I could prevent myself from having PCOS or metabolic syndrome...
basically I went in for PCOS and he told me that I didn't have it...though according to this I atleast have the Insulin resistance, hairyness, acne, dandruff, trouble losing weight and not gaining,
