I just wrote a post on my labwork. My LH is only a little higher than my FHS and now I am worried that it should have been higher. Its FSH 6.7 and LH 7.2
The values should be CLOSE, not exactly the same. As long as they are close to 1:1, you're good. Yours are perfect.

It is important to have a good snack with protein (but no sugar etc.) shortly before starting the 12 hour fast, but only water thereafter. Not even gum, coffee, or mints are permitted, nor is smoking, since these can all raise the results. If you are pregnant, the fasting does not need (and probably shouldn't be) a full 12 hours; about 9 to 10 hours seems optimal for most women.
You should also follow your normal routine for this test; if you are a morning person, have the test done first thing in the morning when you would normally eat, but if you are a late-night person, getting up early for a test at an abnormal time of day for you is probably not a good idea either. Whenever you schedule your test, just time your fast to last for the appropriate interval. Do not go for a walk or do a lot of activity before the test; your body stores sugar (glycogen) in your liver and if your body feels 'starved' or gets too low from fasting, it will draw on these glycogen reserves, thus artificially raising your numbers.

Before I started the BCP's and Met XR... I was tested and told my IR reading was 53... Is that way too high????? I haven't been tested in over a year and a half now.. I guess the dr didnt see fit for me to be checked this year.. Im not sure..
Anyway, Is 53 way toooo high as a reading..??
My Fasting Blood Sugar is never really below 90 these days..
I've been trying to eat better.. and drink only diet drinks or water.. But it's SOOOOOO Hard when my nephew ways a mountain dew in my face!!! Or even tea! I've gained prolly bout 10-20 lbs since I was diagnosed, I had first started losing weight the first 6 months.. and not really watching.. but then I had a complete turn around and a life full of stress.
Ahhh...that makes SO much more sense now! I thought glucose & insulin were the same thing...thanks for helping with that!

Are dr's usually ok about you asking for a copy of your blood work? I didnt think to ask for mine. Should I start my own medical file for my records? How long did most of you wait between your first blood work panel & your 2nd testing? I dont have insurance so this has all becoming very expensive for me. Each dr's app cost $235. I still need to go back for ultrasound & pap(yrly exm) Thanks in advance
I'm wondering about the FAI values.....I have read that results above 5 are considered a diagnosis of hyperandrogenism...and that the values vary by age.... see Table 2 in this article http://www.jfponline.com/Pages.asp?AID=3365
Hey! I was diagnosed with PCOS just by an ultrasound that showed I had the classic "string of pearls." The only symptoms I have had other than that was very irregular periods (sometimes I wouldn't have one for 6 months at a time) I had no lab work done...I was concerned of this! Can a doctor diagnose someone by ultrasound only? I have been on Metformin to regulate my periods and that has worked somewhat. Should I be having lab work done while on this?
