How are you ladies doing on the Byetta? I had quit for a while becasue I didn't see any difference. BUT NOW that I am taking 2000mg of Metformin it seems that my BG is going up again. Could it be because I stopped taking the Byetta, or adding the Metformin, I can swear it's the adding of Metformin because I would have great readings (off Byetta) prior to adding another 1000mg of Metformin. My wake up was 141 this morning. What should I do?

Oh well that is good. My levels are still good not being on it. I wish you all the luck going to the 10mg wasn't that bad for me.

Oh yea I mean it's like 10 minutes away but she iwll be staying with me the last couple of days! She is also going to school so if something happens they are to call the Ambulance becasue I will not make it to her school in time plus being nervous and all..go figure.

Okay, so I did the practice run w/ the Byetta, and only a tiny tiny drop came out....is that how much goes into me or is my pen/needle not working properly?

I'm personally not on Byetta but my mother is. After many years of fighting the inevitable my mother went on insulin after she had bypass surgery. While on Insulin, her Endo took her of Metformin and just had her on Insulin, that wasn't enough, he put her on Byetta and her sugar levels came down. Actually her insulin level was also lowered. So, it could be the fact that you are off the Byetta. On another hand, I am on Met. I found that I was eating more in order to take the medication so that I didn't have to deal with the side affects of Met. I just recently (about 5 months ago) asked my GP to switch me to Fortamet. Well, the first time in years, my HBA1c was under 6.0. My levels dropped considerably. She asked me what I was doing different, I told her that I changed my eating habbits. Mainly because I don't get the side affects like I did on the regular Met.

Hiya! I am joining you all in the byetta usage. I a picking my pen up today, and I have to admit I'm a little panicked about how I'll FEEL on it... I hope I don't get the severe nausea. My doc is starting me on the 5mcg as is standard and has already prescribed the 10mcg to start after I finish the 5mcg pen.... My blood sugars on novolog 70/30 with metformin haven't been improving, as a matter of fact, my hemoglobin A1c has gotten progressively worse...it was 12.8 on tuesday :-( One of the side effects of a high A1C is sudden weight loss....well that got me under 200lbs for the first time in over 8 years .... only good thing about it! The bad part of it for me is uncontrollable yeast infections YIKES!! Anyway my doc is convinced because of the weight loss and then adding byetta and the weightloss it'll bring that by the end of the year I'll be at or almost at my goal weight of 170 (196 right now) so that would be great! How are you doing on this Mindi? I know you just started it so it'd be good to have your perspective..
Julie....I sat and stared at the pen for a few days before getting the nerve up to use it....it's NOTHING! You can't even feel it going in!
I've had nausea, kind of like when I first took Metformin without the diarhea. And I've lost a couple pounds this week!
