As far as heating pads go, I went to WalMart and got the re-usable kind for $2. You can heat it in the microwave or freeze it depending on what you need. I wasnt sure if it would work well so I only got one. But if you put a cloth or towel over it then it actually stays really warm for about 30 minutes. So i say just go to WalMart and look in the pharmacy section and get the smaller $2 re-usable one. You can leave it on however long you want with no worries. I heat it in the micro for 3 minutes and get a GOOD 30-35 minutes of solid heat out of it.

That also sounds like a great idea ... I haven't got a microwave myself, so that option slipped my mind. Wheat heats (a bout 2-3 cups of whole wheat grains sewn into a cotton pouch) might also be a good idea if you have a microwave.

For those of you castor oil HAS worked for dissolving cysts...where there ANY signs you could actually see that it was working. I've had mild cramp feelings while using it and also after I stop the next day but no signs I could see that the cysts are going away....just wonder what people have seen! :0)

Hey ladies. =0) I was diagnosed with PCOS a little over a week ago. I am really into alternative therapies and would prefer to try these. I read a little about castor oil. What is the best way to get started? Any other therapies that y'all know of that are effective?

Default Castor oil packs

Castor oil pack users, How do you make your castor oil packs? I have been using a dish towel and heating pad and have made many a mess. Any other suggestions?

I know this sounds like a stupid question but did anyone get red splotches on their tummy where the pack was? I did and was wondering if that's a sign on it working. I haven't had them before when I was using them. Also can you get bad cramps when the cysts break up because I got some aweful cramps the other day and I shouldn't get AF until next week. Just wondering....any answers would be appreciated....

I posted this in the TTC area under my own thread that I started but I thought I'd ask. I'm kinda flippin' out a little.

I just started doing castor oil packs to try naturally to get rid of my cysts on my ovaries. I did it for about five days for an 1-2 hours each day then I was off for three days.

Now I've been back on for two days and I started getting red splotches where the pack was. Today however (I know this sounds weird but I wouldn't lie about this) I got an ovary sized what looks like bruise on my lower left side where my left ovary would be. Then after I took a shower to remove the oil I noticed I had another one of the right side. Same height and equal distance apart to where my ovaries would be. I have also had some bad cramping off and on. I'm wondering if it's starting to work now...

has anyone else had this using castor oil?

I haven't had this happen but there was someone on this thread (I can't recall who it was) that had a similar experience and the mark went away. I'm not 100% sure but I think it's a sign that the c/o packs are working. Sorry I couldn't be more helpful as I'd be concerned too. *Hugs*

I rub a generous amount of oil right on my low belly and then place an old cotton tshirt over top and then the heating pad on top of that. I've had no trouble with messes at all. I just keep a bag beside my bed for when I'm done and wipe down my belly (but there's not usually much there as it's absorbed in my skin) and then toss the shirt in to the bag until next time. HTH.

thank you sooooo much girly! I'm so excited this is seriously the FIRST thing that has helped my screwed up body!!!! YAY! I'm def. going to keep it up!!!! AWESOME!

haha I have ONE more question...since castor oil helps your uterus as well as your ovaries and cysts do you think I'll have a normal period or a light one. I'm due for one in a couple of days and was wondering!

mommy1 I really appreciated the answer!!! thanks so much!

Honestly I'm not sure what kind of flow you'll have after starting treatments. I've been using c/o but I've also been doing IVF cycles too so I've been on so many meds and supressents etc I have no real idea. As for helping your uterus I do believe it helps any hollow area, including fallopian tubes too. Hopefully someone will correct me if I'm wrong.
