That isn't what I experienced, but it doesn't sound all that abnormal to me either though. If you're concerned about it don't hesitate to give your doc's office a call. That's what we pay them for.
yes hon. I had swelling on my stomach from the lap. And bruisijg. Took awhile to finally go, as well. My gp said it was normal. As they poke around inside so much. Although the dr did say it nicer than that, it's what he meant
have you tried mini tea? or mint codial? peppermints?? thats what other cysters recommended to me.
eva
Nope, haven't heard of trying mint. Is that supposed to reduce swelling? I'll pick some up, I love mint tea! I'm finally feeling better (although still swollen and bruised) today, like I can get around a little more - I've been out of life for basically 6 days and bored of it - which probably means I'm getting better though! It would've been nice if the doc had said it might take this long instead of telling me 2-3 days and I'd be back to work no problem. There was no way I could've gone back in 2-3 days. Probably just my sensitivity to the surgery though.
Thanks again guys!

well, drs say a few days, but my gp said it can take awhile to get to feel normal again. Yes, mint makes bloating go down - tmi- releases gases.... if you see what i mean
good you are starting to feel bored being in now. thats always a good sign- or so my mum says anyway
Hi ladies, just wondering why your docs decided to do a lap? I went for my CD3 baseline ultrasound today and discovered a 6cm cyst, now waiting to hear back if the doc thinks we need to 'adress' it.....did they watch your cysts first?

Penny - Yea, they watched my cyst for a month on the pill. I had a CT scan showing that it had been there 2 years ago as well (when I had been on the pill for about 8 years, and continued to be on it another year and a half), but the medical records didn't arrive at the dr's in time. I think a lot of peoples cysts go away on their own, or significantly shrink after some time on the pill. Mine didn't and it was the same size as yours and looked like endo on the ultrasounds (turned out it was a functional cyst, but I did have stage 2 endo as well). You're in the MN? Whereabouts? I'm in Minneapolis...I'm looking for an endocrinologist referral - know any?
Eva - thanks so much, I had a lot of mint tea. Not only did I enjoy it immensley, but the swelling did go down
Went to the doc for my 2 week post op checkup. I'm so happy! Got the all clear to TTC and exercise again, as long as I take it easy. Only thing that sucks is now I have a cold! He said I could go back to my RE whenever I wanted. I think I'm going to call them and let them know I hope to not come back for a while . Turns out I had stage II endo and the cyst was a persistent functional cyst, he said that may happen again (said it was related to the PCOS??), but it's gone for now and the doc thought that I had a very good chance of conceiving on my own. I got the book "Taking Charge of Your Fertility" and I'm going to start charting! I've learned a lot from that book already. DH and I are feeling very positive and are excited to try and have a baby without any more intervention!
Thanks to everyone for all your help!

Hey Penny,
My RE found two 5cm cysts on my ovaries after an ultrasound at the end of January. When they hadn't gone away on their own after 2 months of birth control (they had actually grown larger) she referred me to a new RE who recommended a laparoscopy to remove them. I had 3 other ultrasounds in between to monitor the cysts. They did the laparoscopy because they came to believe the cysts were endometriomas. Had they been physiologic cysts there were other (much less invasive) procedures they would have done to remove them. Hopefully yours go away on their own very soon. Good luck.
Jane

Hey Melissa,
Great news! Except for the bit about the cold; I actually have been fighting off a sore throat myself for the last few days! It's going around up here though; DH was sick as are a few of my coworkers. Summer colds are the worst!
Good luck in your TTC efforts! I am really hopeful that I'll have a regular cycle for a little bit after the laparoscopy, I would be thrilled to conceive without having to go back on Clomid. So I am going back for acupuncture weekly starting this Thursday, and am really watching my diet as those two things helped me maintain a regular cycle for awhile in 2007/2008.

I got my first AF since the surgery yesterday and it's AWFUL. Super heavy, super crampy, and just yuck. I took some leftover pain meds last night just to take the edge off - I could feel the cramps all the way down to my feet and ibuprofren wasn't touching them. Anyone else have this experience?

I've just had my first AF since surgery and boy was it a shocker -- eeeekk!! Super painful and heavy just like you, revolting!! Was like that for 4 days solid and then it slowly tapered off and has just finished (thank god!!)
I rang my surgeon/specialists office about it and they said "oh yes, your first period after surgery is a doozy, very painful, just rest and take painkillers, it should get better after this" ...... sure hope so!!
Hope yours goes quickly!! xx
