Default Laparoscopic Ovarian Drilling

I was DX last monday and the doctor suggested for Laparoscopic Ovarian drilling. Is this normal?he didnt explain other possible treatments like hormone therapy or medications until my husband asked for it. But the whole conversation, hes was insisting of this operation. Was he just trying to make more money or this method has more sense than taking meds.please help, my head is aching

Welcome to SC. I can't tell you if it's better to have the ovarian drilling or not. I was diagnosed 10 years ago and this was never mentioned to me.

I had ovarian drilling nov 27th after a year of fertility drugs. My dr suggested this because I have very irregular periods and he said this could help to regulate that. Two days later AF came. I was thrilled and thought that maybe this would be the month for me but today AF reared its ugly head, however at least it came and actually came on time. I had never heard of this procedure until my dr told me about it and I have searced the net and read much about it. It is not a bad procedure. And as far as the dr wanting to get more money out of you, some fertility drugs cost just as much or more that the actual procedure.
I hope this helped. If you want to know anything else about the procedure just let me know and I will try to answer from my own experiences.
Good Luck and welcome!

I just seen your post...and I see you have already had the procedure. I had it in Feb of 1998. Because of irregular cycles and not ovulation. The hopes were to cause my ovaries to start releasing eggs own their own. It didn't work for me. I didn't have a cycle after doing it until I took the meds to induce it. What I remember was it took me a good 6 weeks to not have pain....I hope you recover FAST.....AND you start to ovulate on you own!

Best of luck! Melissa
