Default laparoscopy Surgery

A little nervous, I have never had a surgery before and now I am scheduled for one on the 22nd. I just want to know if anyone has had this before and if so what was it like and did it help? Thanks so much.

I had laproscopic ovarian drilling done on 1/8/08 and I did just fine. I have never had surgery before that. I had pain for the first day and a half afterwards. After that I felt very bloated with slight discomfort. My incisions are in my belly button and the other at my pubic hair line. I stayed out of work for a bout one week. I now have no cysts and I ovulateded on my own this month (3weeks after surgery). no perios yet, but i feel like its coming soon. Let me know how it goes. Good luck!!! You'll do great!!!

KG, I hope your surgery goes well!

I am having a diagnostic laparoscopy on Feb. 21 for long-term pelvic pain of unknown cause. The pain happens on the right side only and is stronger at certain times of month. The doctor has seen cysts there each time they do ultrasound, but nothing that should be causing me trouble they say. They are checking around for endometriosis mainly. I hope they can pinpoint the trouble and fix it.

Hi Ladies,

I will keep you in my prayers for sure. I would say to try & not worry too much. I know that is easier said than done but, it is one of the least invasive procedures to have done with the most benefit for them to look around and fix things.

I had a LAPO done back in "06" for un-known pelvic pain also.
They also went in right at my pubic hairline & the bottom of my belly button and you can't even see my scars now.

Once they got in, I had adhesions that had bound everything together. So, it turned into a search and rescue mission for other things like, bowels, intestines & tubes. They had to clean everything out and put it back where it was suppose to be. So, mine turned out to be a little more in-depth than it was suppose to be. They had to "I guess" like, scrape some of it to get them off so I was on laxatives for a few weeks as not to have my bowels expand.

I was fine though. The first 2 days were a little painful but, the painkillers kept me pretty mutch knocked out so I slept through most of it. But, I was back to cleaning the house (very lightly) and taking care of my kids by the 3rd day.

I am having problems again but, they are worse this time and would trade the plane lapo for this any day.

BEST OF LUCK AND KEEP US POSTED

Hello:
i had a lap done to remove to egg size cysts that were squeezing my left tube, i felt immense pain, not due to the incisions but because a nurse left my urine bag HANGING from the bed during the surgery which pulled my organs so much that i cried everytime i had to go the the bathroom, other than that, i only had to take Vicodine for a few days and i was fine, and since the incisions are small, they heal pretty quickly. dont be scared, just make sure you tell your dr./nurses NOT to let the urine bag hang!

Dear KG,

I think pre-admission is an office/hospital visit with the surgeon. They will make sure you understand the operation goals and risks, what/when to eat the day before, and they will answer questions you have. I think you also sign the consent to operate form on this visit, and get lab orders for blood tests that you get shortly before the surg. date. Write down some questions for the Dr. so you can remember what you want to know about. Good luck with it!

Smile Lap

I had lap done in July 05. I was uncomfortable for the first couple of days and my incisions hurt for a little while. I was really sick afterwards but that was because I don't take the meds that put me to sleep well and wouldn't you know the staff didn't listen to me and I spent 4 hrs in recovery getting ill (and they were doing work on the bathroom!!! It was crazy luck!!) The drive home was killer! I swear there were fifty million potholes that day, LOL! I took one week off of work, only because I could! If I had to I could have gone back earlier. I had the procedure on a Thursday and if I had to I could have been back to work (still somewhat sore though) on Monday (I worked an office desk job). I took August 05 off from my TTC journey. I then got pg naturally in September 05. Hope this help, Good Luck

I had Ovarian Drilling by lap surgery on 11/15/07. Other than a reaction to anesthesia (which happens to me), everything went great. I even went to eat Chinese food the next day for lunch. I had surgery on a Thursday and was back to work with no problems on Monday. I also had the two small incisions in the pubic area and one in the belly button. I did have a problem with the belly button incision staying closed, but just some small bleeding and nothing serious. I then got pregnant on my own during my very next cycle, so I would say that it was a complete success for me.

I will keep you in my prayers. Best wishes.

I had OD and D&C last Wednesday and so far things have not been too bad. I little soreness, but nothing compared to the cramps I usually have with my period or with Provera. My RE said everything went great so I am keeping my fingers crossed that I will hopefully O on my own soon. I am new to this site but the posts I have read are very encouraging. Keeping my fingers crossed.

Well I had laparoscopy on Feb. 21 to explore causes of chronic pelvic pain. I had a right-side ovarian cyst drained and appendix removed (to rule it out as cause). Little endometriosis was seen, which I am happy about.

The procedure went well, just the anesthesia made me sick when I woke up from it. I remember being really combative cause I wanted a bucket and they weren't giving me one! But by the time I got home, I ate and drank fine.
Healing well, though tender in the belly, and anxious to see if my old pain is all gone.

I would recommend this procedure as a last resort for anyone with unresolved pain that seems related to cycle. Find a conservative Dr. who will treat whatever they find, but not poke around needlessly. I am hopeful this solves it for me.
