My Mood: Points: 1,731.11 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 1,731.11 | Hi,
I have had it done on several occasions years ago, to remove cysts and pieces of my ovaries (I have about a quarter of my left one left, the rest have been removed), and I have to say it's much more painless and convenient - and quick to recover from than a regular operation.
It's done under general anesthetic. The worst discomfort I felt always afterwards was the feeling like having air floating inside my ribs and under my shoulders, you know, that there was air outside my intestines&lungs but inside the skin. I'm not sure if there was, but it felt like it.
Ask your doctor also as much as you need, they should explain everything; if they don't, pester until they do.
I hope your operation is successful.

They went in at my bellybutton for the ovarian drilling and I was sore for a few days and had to take it easy, but was back to a normal schedule after that. I didn't need any pain meds except for advil. For my gallbladder surgery they mad 3 small insicions and those were sore for a while and I had to take it easy for a few days also. For this I needed pain meds, but stopped taking them after about a week, I was afraid of getting hooked cuz they made me feel real good!
Best of luck, hope all goes well, let us know how you are doing.

I was very bloated for about a week. I only wore stretchy waisted pants. And I pains in my right should from the gas expelling through my body. It was painless and I healed very well.
I wish you luck!

I was unable to wee properly for 3 days - just small drips - I didn't know they were going to catherter me. My belly button is still trying to heal - i have a weird discharge coming from it !.
You will see from other responses though that most people have no problems - I think most of my pain was due to the amount of effort they put inot trying to unblock the tube ! |

Because of circumstances I wasn't able to have any recovery time and I live to tell about it. I also had ovarian drilling and hysteroscopy done at the same time. There was even complications that made the routine surgery turn into 3 & 1/2 excruciating hours in an OR.
It was a tough few days but it didn't kill me.
Hopefully you will have a couple days to recover(which all you should need)
Good Luck & wishing you a speedy recovery! |

Points: 12,705.56 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 12,705.56 | I had lap surgery done in April. She made two small incisions by the each side of my belly button and two small incisions in my lower abdomen (underneath by bottom fat roll). She removed endometriosis from the outside of my ovaries, tubes, back side of my uterus, and my bladder. She also removed polyps from inside my uterus and did a D&C. I actually felt pretty good on days 1&2 but was knocked on my butt on day 3. After a week, I started feeling better.
The gas pains in my shoulders lasted for a few weeks (on and off), but actually the worst was the painful urination. I don't know if that was a result of the lap or the D&C.
HTH and good luck!

I'm gonna stop looking back and starting moving on
And learn how to face my fears
Love with all of my heart, make my mark
I wanna leave something here
Go out on a ledge, without any net
That's what I'm gonna be about
Yeah, I wanna be running
When the sand runs out

The belly button stitches dont seem to have been properly held togther so the skin has had to basically heal over a hole. The wound was very weepy up until about a week ago.
Be interesting if anyone else has pics....
The other pic is the lower incision. |
