Question Laproscopy & BMI question

This is a Q for those of you who've had a laproscopy......

Can I please ask what your BMI (Body Mass Index) was when you had it done?

My Consultant won't book me in for one as he says my BMI is too high and it's too risky.

I wouldn't mind but I'm nowhere near obese, I'm about 2 stone overweight! I had my wisdom teeth taken out under GA in Oct 01 and the surgeon had no concerns then.

Anyhow, I just wanted to know what the uniform BMI was for my fellow Cysters.

Thanks!

Default I've had one and...

My BMI is 30, I think. I'm about 5' 5" and just over 13 stone. So about 4 stones overweight.

I had mine with no problems, although it was done privately.

Smile Re.

Hiya, I had that couple of years ago now, have Doathermy while they were there....at the time I was around 15 and a half stone and only 4' 11" so very overweight but still had it done on the NHS although they did examine my tummy to make sure it wasnt TOO padded to get the instruments in there.
My local health authority are really good with me, I think it depends what part of the country youre in and who your doctor is, mine is an absolute star x
Good luck for the future x :p

Angry Hmmmm

Thanks for your replies - Maybe I need to be a little more assertive with my Consultant.....

Does anyone know if I can get my GP to refer me for this proceedure if all else fails? My GP is far more helpful than my Consultant.

Thanks again!
