I haven't been removing the hair first. I decided not to. I still just shave it instead of plucking.

"Take one capsule aloe vera and one tablet shatavari twice daily for three months, to help balance hormone levels. " hmmm... pretty interesting. Anyone know anything about this? It would be crazy if the lard works. I'm curious! I'd so bathe in it.

Update: I've stopped using the lard for awhile. I got some acne and didn't feel good about buttering it up with the lard. Also, I'm still unsure about the results..

I think maybe the NAC was doing more. I noticed when I take the NAC I have slower hair growth everywhere else on my body. I may try the lard again though...

Edit: Please anyone else trying this update!!! Would love to know how you're doing and if it's working for you.

I have seen lard at walmart by all the other oils and fats- it was in a white box with green letters and also a huge tub also white with green letters.

Default More interesting yet weird info...

It's been so long since I have seen this thread I couldn't help but search for more info on the subject today. And I actually found something!

I had wondered if perhaps he, Dr. Ali, got the idea from the tanning of animal skins where rancid lard would be used to help remove the fur or something like that? I was unable to find a reference for such a thing, but instead found something else with a little book googling.

According to The Edgar Cayce Handbook for Health Through Drugless Therapy there is the mention of hog lard used in relation to hair growth, but not exactly having to do with stopping unwanted facial hair. Instead it's suggested to use the lard on the scalp in order to get hair to regrow.

In addition to "internal cleansing" it mentions a couple of applications for hairloss. The second one listed contains the lard and is on page 287. It reads:

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
For the scalp we would prepare a close-fitting cap - oil cap- to be used once a week or left on over night, when the scalp would be massaged with pure hog lard. Not that which has been mixed with vegetable matter, but the pure pork or hog lard. Massage this in at night. Sleep with it in the hair and scalp. Using the cap as protection. In the morning have a thorough shampoo with Olive Oil shampoo, massaging the scalp afterward with white Vaseline cut with a little alcohol solution- just enough to change the activity of same (Or just enough to rinse most of the Vaseline out of the hair).

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

Of course, this is in addition to doing other things as well (certain foods and cleansing). I find Edgar Cayce dubious as his means were esoteric or sort of New Age. However, it's interesting to see another connection between "lard" and "hair" whether it's hair reduction or growth.

Here is the link to the Google book preview where I read this information:

if you go to the baking section and buy "tenderflake" for making pie crust, that is lard.

when i read the 1st post i thought that it might be linked to a type/brand of lard... and althought the posts were made long ago i thought someone would have been able to say if they had got good results from it or just more oily greasy skin and spots.
but it is quite intreating to know that its been reported to improve hair growth as well as hair loss... which are complete oppisites

I guess the good news is that the hair growth is mentioned in regards to the head.... and the reduction on the face and other areas... reminds me of perhaps, Saw Palmetto...

I'm now looking around to see just what's in lard.

Another location where lard is mentioned for hair regrowth:

Natural Remedies for Hair Loss:
"Apply some animal lard and wrap your head with a steamed towel. Replace the towel every 10 minutes with a freshly steamed one. Wash after an hour. Lard is rich in fat, which is retained by the follicle."
Sounds interesting...I don't know if I go for the idea that the fat is retained by the follicle though.

Yes, please if anyone wants to try the lard for facial hair or for the hairloss please post your results!

Interesting tidbit, only partly related to this thread: Lard was villanized by the Cottolene & Criso people from the turn of the last century into the 1950s. They claimed that it would make you fat & give you heart disease (butter got similar treatment, but survived better.) Incidentally, rates of atherosclerosis and heart attacks skyrocketed after Americans began eating hydrogenated vegetable products - Crisco & margarine.

Do a little research and you'll find out lard isn't half as bad as the Crisco you probably have in your cabinet.

I have pure, unhydrogenated lard that I order from a little place that renders it themselves- not the shelf stable crap most grocery stores carry (Manteca, Armor lard, Snowflake etc.) Thanks to this thread, I am going to try applying it to my lower stomach to see if it helps with the hair!
