Vaniqa works great, until you forget to put it on one day. I still have to shave, but it's much harder to notice the dark hair and it has really helped my self-esteem. I can actually hold my head up now without feeling ashamed.
I think I might try this! |

My Mood: Points: 29,860.89 Bank: 6,998.13 Total Points: 36,859.02 | A lard update of sorts:
Tonight I'll be using the lard for the 4th time. I totally wonder why I picked Friday night. I guess when I tried it on that first Tuesday I wanted to space the dates out and came up with Friday. I might change the dates around.
Anyway, so far I've noticed little, but the lard smells like ham (lol, duh) and it's pleasant at first... I rub in a little at a time all over my face (where hair grows) and leave it in all night. I haven't noticed any additional acne or any other unwanted side effects... I'm still unsure of any benefits. I'm wondering if it would be wise to tweeze everywhere instead of shaving. (Oh how I hate typing about shaving, makes me feel so unfeminine!!! yuck!) I might start plucking to see if it makes any difference that way.... I'm unsure! Also, I was thinking maybe 2 times a week isn't enough...and wow is that a lot of lard in there...way more than needed... Maybe 3 times a week? hmm... I wish those orginal women would have posted their updates back when.. I wonder if they went through with it? Indeed the idea of destorying the hair root in a painless, safe, and economical way that's right from the kitchen really makes me happy! I so hope it's true. The skeptic in me doubts it though, but I will keep it up for the whole 12 weeks...
Please has anyone else gotten the lard? Anyone else trying this??? Please post your experience so far...

My Mood: Points: 8,351.73 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 8,351.73 | Hi ladies,
I did not abandon my trial although some family issues prevented me from posting. I have been using it 2 times per week. I have only been putting a very little layer on at night instead of my moisturizer. I have not seen a drastic difference but I did realize a couple of days ago that I had not plucked in almost a week and I did not have the coarse hair that would have DH offering to pluc them for me. I am not sure if I am just in a rest period between growth or if it was as a result of the lard. Anyway, I will continue to use it for now. My routine is as follows:
wash face with cleanser (I use Avon Anew)
follow with toner
put a really thin layer of lard - not enough to make the bedsheets greasy
In the morning I do the same routine but instead of using the lard I use my regular moisturizer.
PS sometimes I scub in the morning too but not frequently
I have had no unusual acne breakouts - just the regular pre-AF pimple. |

My Mood: Points: 29,860.89 Bank: 6,998.13 Total Points: 36,859.02 | Hi sasha299,
Thank you so much for updating!!!
This will be the starting of week 3 for me I believe. I also use it twice a week and haven't had any acne. I'm not sure what I notice. I haven't been plucking lately. (I don't always pluck though.) I usually shave. I was thinking of plucking instead and seeing what happens... As it usually all comes back in a week or so if I pluck. I also put on a small layer before bed as not to get the pillow messed up (but I cover the pillow anyway).
I will continue till the end! Although at times I feel funny about this. I suppose it's because I can't find other info on it.... DH thinks I should put it on more often, but I don't know...
So glad I'm not alone in testing it!!

They finally fixed the search at Dr. Ali's ( www.drali.com) . This is where the Lard is mentioned!!!!
This is interesting: "Take one capsule aloe vera and one tablet shatavari twice daily for three months, to help balance hormone levels."
At the end he mentions to never shave the hair. "It will only get thicker and make things worse." I personally think that is a myth.
If this thing with the lard works I'm doing my whole body!!!!!!!!
Here it is: ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
25 Apr 2004 Excess Body Hair
Question
Iım 19 and ever since I hit puberty Iıve had more hair than usual, especially on my face. I can mask it by bleaching but over the past few years the hair has increased on my neck, stomach and lower back. Although the body hairs are quite fine, I am very self-conscious about the thicker hairs on my face. I wonder why this is happening and whether there are any changes I can make to reduce the hair?
Answer
There are two types of excess hair growth in women. The first one is generalised increase all over the body * face, arms, back, legs etc * which may be what you have. The other type *hirsutism - is distributed in a male pattern so females get beard and chest hair. Normally a woman has thick hair on the scalp, underarms, pubic region and around the nipples, and fine hair in moderation all over the body. Trouble starts if the adrenal glands are overactive, due to stress or over stimulation of the pituitary gland (the hormonal headquarters in the brain). The adrenals release male hormones (androgens) that can be converted into testosterone in various cells of the body, which need not be the male testes. So women, who have a little testosterone anyway, may make more under stressful conditions, or if there are problems with the pituitary. The adrenals also release stress hormones. Interestingly, these are mostly male in nature * like testosterone. Evolution designed men for fight or flight: to go out fighting predators of all sorts * or fleeing fast. Modern lifestyle means women are suffering the same pressures as men. Androgens may be released from the adrenals at the same time as stress hormones and convert to testosterone. (Vigorous exercise also stimulates the adrenals to release androgens, which can then convert to a form of oestrogen, a useful tip for menopausal women.) Hirsutism is also a common symptom of polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS). In this case, androgens are produced by the ovaries (the female glands that release eggs, also oestrogen and progesterone) and also in fat cells. In PCOS sufferers, these male hormones suppress menstruation and cause hair growth. You must consult your own doctor if your hormones are unbalanced. Signs of this include irregular periods, acne, and rapid weight gain, also irritability and mood swings not connected to PMS. You will almost certainly have blood tests to find out if there are signs of excess androgen production, although I should warn you that these are not always very accurate in the early stages. If hair growth is accompanied by some or all of these symptoms, it suggests either PCOS or release of androgens from the adrenal glands. Your doctor may prescribe a type of contraceptive pill if your periods are irregular but otherwise testosterone suppressing drugs may be considered. Because stress is likely to be the cause or a contributory factor, I suggest doing the following: Avoid coffee and alcohol, also excess salt and excess sugar (which are commonly found in prepared foods of all kinds): these ingredients can add to your existing level of stress. Avoid late nights and get as much sleep as possible. Walk regularly in the fresh air of the countryside, or in parks if you live in the city. Avoid yeast products (such as bread, marmite, pasta, pizza, cakes) as these can make you tired. Eat rhubarb, pomegranate and yams, which contain plant oestrogens. Take one capsule aloe vera and one tablet shatavari twice daily for three months, to help balance hormone levels. Rub lard (any sort) right into the skin under the worst hair growth. Leave overnight. Do this twice a week for three months. Lard destroys the hair roots and facilitates hair loss. (You can try this for any unwanted hair growth.) Practise yoga to help you relax. Find a good class nearby and also do some poses in the evenings, always finishing with the corpse pose. Details are in my book Therapeutic Yoga, co-written with Jiwan Brar (available from the IMC and the YOU book shop). Listen to a relaxation tape in bed. There are many good ones in the shops, or my Yoga and Meditation tape is available from my website. Massage your neck and shoulders with Lifestyle Massage Oil : Preferably ask a flatmate or partner to give you a massage: tips on how to do this are freely available on my website. This will relax the muscles of your neck, which in turn helps the circulation of brain fluid and improves blood flow to the brain. Never shave excess hair. It will only get thicker and make things worse. ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
