Default LASER--good and bad

I am not on any meds, and I'm sure my hormones are out of whack! Is it a good idea to do laser? I went to 1 session for my underarms. I want to finish that and start with my face. I have some concerns though. First, if my hormones are not under control won't the hair just grow back? Second, my friend started going to laser about 6 months ago and at first it was great. She recommended the doctor to me. Now she's having problems. The hair on her face (which was very fine to begin with) is coming back course from shaving. There is no reduction of hairs and she has gone 8 times!!! What the f***!!! That's a lot of money. My friend doesn't have PCOS. I'm wondering if it's worth it for me to procede with this, considering every case is different (mine usually worse!).

I'd really like to hear from anyone who's done laser for a while, what results they got--both good and bad, and what type of laser was used. Mine uses the Lyra Laser.

I did laser on my chin and upper neck about a year ago. Before it, I had very coarse hairs that I had to pluck at least 2x daily and I probably spent a good hour doing it each day.
A year after laser, I do have some regrowth. It isn't very dark and it's not coarse at all and I'm having electrolysis on it to keep it in check. Overall I'm satisfied.
However, I believe you need to get what is causing the hair growth in check to get the most out of treatment. My laser person was very adamant that they would treat me, but that I really needed to get my pcos under control otherwise it would be a waste of money.
In other words, treat the underlying cause BEFORE you treat the outward symptom.

also, if the hair on your friends face was light colored, the laser might not have been able to detect it and that's why she's having so much trouble.

hope this helps,
Becky
