It's been a really long time since I've logged on and I'm about to take the first step to FINALLY being happy with myself and I wanted to share. On Monday I'm scheduled to go in for my first laser hair removal appointment. It's the first of many but its a beginning! I'm really excited about it. Facial hair has been my biggest insecurity (even passes up weight gain, acne, etc.) so I'm really looking forward to being able to be the person I am and not trying to hide myself. I can have only one treatment per month so it will be a good 6-8 months before its all said and done. I can't wait to wear my hair up, lounge around in the mornings without having to shave first, camping, and swimming without having to keep my hair down to hide it, and being completely comfortable with my husband! As you can tell, I'm super excited. Who's had this procedure done and how do you feel about the results? I feel like I might be setting myself up for a big downfall. Any advice, thoughts, .....anything?

I've been getting laser hair removal for a year now. It has helped, but the hair keeps coming back. The lady that does the laser is the one that suggested I go see a doctor about it. Hope everything goes well!
I have dumped about 5000-6000 in hair removal. The biggest factor for me was the fact when I first started I was going off birth control and the hair started to get darker and thicker. The nice blonde hair turned black. The doctor I was getting the treatments from referred me to an endo and I was put on metformin. Since then I have had more treatments and the hair is staying gone which is nice. I have had hair removed from my legs, underarms, face, and arms and it is finally stopped growing back. I don't know your story so I can't offer any advice really but I just thought I'd share mine.
Ive had 6 treatments on my face and four on my body since December. I spent a year getting my weight and hormones under conrol first. It works best on dark hair and pale skin - which i have. Im happy with the results so far but still have a long way to go. Unfortunately I have a lot of grey hair on my chin but ive decided that when im done i will just pull them out and it will be much more manageable than before. I wish you the very best of luck

Diagnosed 1996 Irregular AF - TTC IBS & Reflux Loads of damn hair Hello efexor my old friend......geez we meet again after two years apart!
I was born hairy. Ever since I was little I had a lot of black hair on my forearms and leggs. As I got older the hair continued to thicken and multiply. Eventually it got to the point where the hair on my forearms was so thick and long that it could hold my shirtsleeve off my arm, my leggs would become stubbly a few hours after shaving, and my armpits would become a mass of painfull ingrown hairs the day after shaving. I decided it was time to do something about it.
I had laser hair removal in 1999 - upper lip, arms, armpits, leggs, and have been very happy with the results. I remained almost hair free for about 3 years until my body went crazy with pcos and I started to experience some new growth.
Despite the new growth, what I have now (7 years later), is still very sparse and thinner than before and is easily shaved. I think it was worth every penny and I would do it again. Just make sure you get your hormones under control first so you don't waste your money.
Good Luck!!

I had laser hair removal a couple years ago on my upper lip and arms. I think on my upper lip it worked for a while but now shortly after going off BCPS its grown back a lot. However my sis is an estetician and she waxes me for free...its nice but it definetly doesn't grow back as quickly. In terms of my arms it grows back in little patches and all I do is shave it as it comes back in and a week or two later I have to shave again. Not too bad! I'm very happy with the results. Although it was expensive!
Congrats on taking the first steps to being hair free! I had my second of 6 lazer hair treatments yesterday and so far I am really happy with the results. While it's a little uncomfortable during the treatment, its far less painful than electroloysis, which for me did not work. Between the combination of being back on BCP's, taking Spiro and the lazer treatments I have noticed that the hair is lighter, less coarse and there is less of it overall. This second treatment I noticed an even bigger difference and that's so encouraging to me! I do have to shave a few small areas, but its not nearly as bad as it was a few months ago when I was sporting thick dark hairs along my chin and neck areas- ugh!
I hope yours goes well - just be patient and you will start seeing the results soon!
