Default Laser Hair Removal?

I know it's expensive stuff....but has anyone considered or have done this? I've been thinking about it..cause they say it won't ever come back....but then again with high testosterone...would it? I don't understand it all....does anyone know anything about it?

I've heard some people have gotten it done and the hair still came back....

I am having it done in spots. The face is the place that I am worried about so that is where I am starting. It is expensive and cost me 1400 for the whole face. I just started treatments so I dont know how it is going to work but I have a 2 year guarentee so I can get all of my treatments and then as many more in the 2 following years as I want. HTH

Hi Heady

I noticed that you have been TTC since 1999. This is the same year that we started and still no luck for my DH and I. I'm now on my third round of IVF treatment (menopur) and met.....hoping that the third time will be luckier. Any way I just wanted to say hang in there I think that this year is the year for us, lucky number 7 and all.......

i had the laser hair removal. it was great for about a year(after the treatments were completed). it costs i think around 800-900 dollars for practically the whole face. (6 or 8 treatments if i remember correctly) Apparently your hair grows in cycles so you have to go several times. They were spaced 3-4wks apart. I have noticed that it is beginning to grow back. Not quite as bad as before. Even so, I still think if you can afford to go, get it done.

My sister had it and lost a ton of weight and none of hers has grown back. so i think it depends on how under control your pcos is as to whether the hair grows back.
good luck

I am currently having laser done. I have had 4 treatments so far. I used to have horrible hair on my chin, that if I shaved in the morning by the time I got off work at 4, I'd be too embarrassed to stop at the store because of regrowth. Now I still shave my chin daily as next cycle of hair grows in, but I really only have like 10 coarse hairs left. I paid 175 / treatment for the face. I have mine 6 weeks apart. I think 3-4 weeks is too soon, as I only begin to grow more hair at week 3 or 4. I am having great success, so far. As far as hair growing back, yes, more hair could start growing after lasering it all off. But keep in mind that so long as the laser KILLS the hair, that hair will no longer grow. And as you said, with our wacky hormones, you can always begin growing new hair. Understand? I think if you really want laser to be successful, you need to treat your PCOS. I personally am on Metformin, Spiro and Yasmin. Go to www.hairtell.com or www.hairremovalforum.com for some great info. I learned a lot on both sites. Please make sure that the right laser for you will be used if you do opt to have it done.

I am sure that they dont take ins cause it is a cosmetic procedure. If your ins covers that then you may want to call them and find out where they suggest you go.

I had 4 sessions for my face, abdomen and legs. The coarsest hair disappeared and it is completely eliminated. Somehow the acne also went away along with the hair.

But after that I got pregnant and grew lots of hair in new spots. Also I have bad acne. Its been 8 months after the delivery and I am thinking of going back for laser again. This time only for my face. Too expensive!

Hey there everyone,

I am new to this board, but i know where you are coming from.... Its confusing trying to decide wich method is good, and the i have the same issue as most do,with the testerone being high. I just started electrolysis for chin and upper lip. its like 70.00 for an hour session, and yes it takes alot more time than laser, but its nice to leave after an hour session and see all the hairs gone, but that only has lasted like 2 days, and then hair growth came back. I do know like laser, they have to kill the folicle, and it can take a while to do so. i just started taking yaz for the hormone imbalance. i pray it works!!! Best bet would be to call around some laser clinics, and make sure they offer free consutaltions, most do, and check it out from that point!

Good luck to you!

I didn't finish my sessions because it was only working on my legs (which is where I'm least concerned about it - I can shave my legs, no problem.) My armpits and face are still just as hairy, and I might have lost one or two hairs in the bikini area.

I don't know if I had continued, if it would have gotten better. Maybe for my face. Probably not the pits.
