I've thought about it a lot lately. Especially since I'm 16 days away from my due date & my facial hair growth is beyond controllable. I'm wondering if it's worked for others as well.

I had a fairly good deal on it a few years back. I paid $92 per session and I would have a session every 6 weeks. The hair I got removed was all on my face...sideburns, chin, mustache. I'm hispanic and have light/medium colored skin but never had any bad side effects/discoloration. I did about 8 sessions and then the lady moved to another town and I never continued the treatments. Some of my chin hair has grown back but it is definitely not as bad as before. I used to have to pluck EVERY day and I'd have a bunch of ingrown hairs too. Now I pluck my chin ever 3 days or so and I find about 5 hairs or so. Before, I spent about 1/2 an hour every day and still have irritation/stubble. Laser treatment never worked on my mustache...that still comes in but I just shave that off. Overall, I'm happy that I had the treatment. I think it's worth it. BTW, Vaniqa didn't do a darn thing for me either!

$92 a session was a really good rate, too bad she moved! I've heard that those with a fair complexion and dark hair are excellent candidates (which is me), but I am very fair skinned and fear discolorations. I was thinking about doing a test area, like my arm pitts or bikini area first.

Wherever you decide to go they should do a patch test in the area to be treated. The texture of the arm pit is very different from the face and for that reason a patch test along the jaw line or cheek should be done.
Yeah, I don't think you will have any discoloration at all because of your fair complexion but it's better to be safe than sorry. I had gone to see a dermatologist about 13 years ago or so and it was crazy expensive to get the laser treatment. I mean we were talking thousands of dollars that I didn't have and my insurance didn't cover it. So, I didn't get it done back then and had to live with my hairy face (and the plucking and shaving). I was pleasantly surprised when a co-worker of mine found an aesthetician at a spa a few years back that would accept payments. I jumped on that opportunity and like I said in my last post, I don't regret it at all.
Now, I do know a lady that got a chemical peel (I know it's not the same as laser) but now her skin is really screwed up. She almost looks like she has a mask on because her discoloration is under her chin/jaw. She's fair skinned and fair haired. So maybe you can get the laser tested on the area behind your ear or something. Good luck!
