Question laser hair removal?

Hi there, and I'm kind of new. Not to PCOS, per se, but to the soulcyster community. Anyhow, in terms of my main symptoms of PCOS, I've pretty much cleared up my menstrual problems (heavy, irregular periods, and monster cramps & PMS) after my doc put me on Yasmin (after m/c), and my acne's virtually gone thanks to Nature's Cure (www.naturescure.com) and Yasmin. And my weight problems are slowly but surely shrinking (no pun intended! ) with the help of overeaters anonymous and the blood type diet (I'm a rare one. . .AB negative). But anyhow, now all that's left is the hirsutism (mostly on my thighs, belly, sideburns, mustache, and between my brows), and I have been investigating hair removal options. And as it turns out, I'm pretty much the perfect candidate for laser removal (dark hair and fair skin), but the only things holding me back are the cost and the potential for pain (I'm very sensitive to pain). So I was wondering if any of you have had experiences with laser hair removal, and if so, what are your thoughts on it? Thanks again.

Hi,
I've been researching for a while. Check out www.hairfacts.com They ahve so much good info on laser.

I've finally decided I'm going to use alexandrite gentle lase. My other top one is lightsheer diode. The studies I could find showed that alex. is longer lasting in general than the others. Lasers are specific to each person, though--some have much better success. Also it is a cooled system, so it's less painful--I full well expect pain but I really dont' care. I'm

There's some good posts here, too, on laser. One woman in partic. documented her lightsheer diode experience (very positive)--that one was pretty recent.

I've only found one office aruond here so far that does alex. and it's a man doc who does tx--I for sure want a female. That's my next task.

I'm AB neg, too!

good luck
ama

Hi,

I have PCOs and mine is very severe...I have the weight gain, the infertility and the embarrassing hair growth...

I would get picked on in school about it....I tried everything

Waxing stopped working after the 3rd time, the creams don't work and I did the hair removal...

I have very dark thick hair pretty much ALL over my body...

My mustaches isn't soo bad but the chin, neck and sides are HORRIBLE.. I have to shave but my skin gets very irritated and even after shaving it is still very evident that I have hair growth..

i have hair on my chest, stomach, bum, and everywhere else..

I decide to do Sonar laser hair removal, even though it was *permanant* I was told the most it would last was 2 years(but hey, anything is better than doing it everyday)

I would have 12 treatments I would have to stay out of the sun and blah blah blah...

The first treatment came, I laidon a tabel in a room where I put on Uv goggles and they used a laswer that was smaller than my hair follicles..

It was a bad experience and hurt soo bad that half way through they had to stop...

I never went back...

The pain is not unbearable, but it isnm't pleasant... I;m thinking of going through it again...

Hi Sunshine,
That doesn't sound fun. I had laser many years ago, and it felt like a snapping rubber band on me...not so bad. (but also not effective) The waxing they did prior to the laser was way worse than the laser (softlight system) I think I'm more tolerant cause I went through a year of electrolysis, so many years of waxing that I can't count, and the laser over one year.

Anyway, sorry such a bad experience. One of the gals in this section did lightsheer diode, and had really good luck with her face/beard. It seemed the pain was significant but bearable. Hope you find a good solution soon.

Hugs,
Anne Marie
