Default Laser hair removal consult tomorrow and ??

I just made my appt. and I guess I am more confused now. She said something about coming in monthly. Does that sound right? Its going to be $250 per treatment. Is that kinda high?
She also said it works best on dark hair. My hair is very light with a few random dark ones here and there.
Does this hurt?

Any thoughts?

Normally LHR sessions are 6 - 8 weeks apart. It does not work on light hair or very fine dark hair. $250 per sessions does not sound extremely high if you are talking about the entire face. I paid $1200 for unlimited sessions for my face, but only needed 7. The sensation was like somebody was snapping me with a rubber band, but it was not painful, except on my upper lip during the last treatment. It made my face very red for a few hours, but I have rosacea, so everything makes my face red.

I have referred several people on soul cysters to this site. http://www.cosmeticenhancementsforum...wforum.php?f=3

It has a sticky at the top of the board with questions to ask at your consultation and a FAQ sticky also. You can sign-up and post there and on the electrolysis board to ask specific questions. Since you have light hair, you might be better suited to electrolysis. Good luck!

Josie is right. I've paid about that much through American Laser. I paid for 6 sessions scheduled 4-6 weeks apart for my face and 6-8 for bikini line. Then I have free follow up treatments for 2 years. It does work better on dark hair.
It does have a stinging/burning sensation. My clinic uses a hose that blasts cool air as they work.
I would have them do a consultation and perhaps a test spot to see if it will work for you.
Good luck,

i paid about 70 or 80 for just the face (in glendale, a suburb of los angeles). cant remember exactly how much, but it was something like that. theres one kind of laser that hurts SO bad, and that didnt work for me. then theres another kind thats not too bad, and that one did work, but since my hormones are/were out of wack, the hair just came back. i'd suggest making sure your hormones are balanced (testosterone, at least) before spending all that money. i went once a month also. it does NOT work on light or white hair. the darker, the better.

Thanks ladies!

Yeah, the Dr. told me I probably wasnt the best candidate for LHR. He told me my "peach fuzz" didn't hold enough pigment for the laser to pick it up. : (

At least he was honest about it. And it lets you look at all the other options available to you, with their relative advantages and disadvantages.

There's no answer that's best for everyone. So much depends on your hormone levels, the sensitivity of your skin to testosterone, the sensitivity of your skin to chemicals, the sensitivity of your skin to burning, the coarseness of your hair and, of course, the color of your hair, your own sensitivity to pain and so on.

For me, the best answer is shaving. Have you considered having electrolysis just for the dark hairs and tackling the rest some other way?

Yes, it is 6-8 weeks between treatments. My laser treatment cost me 250 per session, and that was for my whole face and neck. I went to a Doctor that specializes in laser treatments. The nurse that was doing my treatments had a long talk with the doctor before I started the treatments because she really wanted to help me. I had explained what pcos was and how it effects you. She was so touched that I was wanting to do this for a better quality of life rather than for vanity reasons she got the doctor to cut the price in half. My hair took really good to the treatments because I am 100% Italian and I have very dark hair. Yes, the darker the better. I had 8 sessions and had a very good response. But finacially it became impossible for me to continue. And of course has since grown back. Another woman had posted that she got her insurance company to cover her treatments, so I'm now looking into that. If you have insurance I would definately explore that option for financial help.
