Default Laser Hair Removal for Dark Skin Individuals

I've read that darker skinned/African American individuals are not ideal candidates for Laser hair removal. Are there any dark skinned individuals out there who have had Laser hair removal? What was your experience and were the results good?

I'm dark skinned myself and I'm considering getting this procedure done to get rid of severe facial hair growth in the chin area. Just wanted to know if I should proceed with it or not even bother.

P.s. - I'm not located in the US so recommending specialists won't really help me. Just wanted to know what I should expect.

Hello Kay J,
I am a african american female that have successfully had 7 laser hair removal treatments.I've moved from the midwest to the west coast and so I can't remember the name of the Laser that was used, but it was very effective.I have heard of the Cool Glide tbat Kat mentioned and I know that it's for darker skin tones also.If your interested in getting laser,I would recommend you call around in your area and ask them do they laser especially designed for dark tones. Also see if they have before and after pics of the customers they have treated to get an idea of the expected outcome. It was very safe and very effective for me and I would highly recommend it and do it all over if I had too.Good luck :bigok:
