Question Laser hair removal for the face?

As I grow older, I find that I am getting a lot of chin hairs. I was wondering laser hair removal on your face is effective?

Apparently, your skin tone has a lot to do with whether or not laser hair removal is effective. I am of Italian descent and supposedly have "Olive" skin. I have dark black hairs so this should be in my favor. (I can't believe I said that)

What are the risks with laser hair removal on your face. Is there scaring or skin discoloration?

well so far I have had marks put on my face with laser treatment and the hair still grows back but not like it did before and it is much more manageable. I don't think there ar eany real risk but make sure you use creams to keep your skin full of moisture

I just talked to a counselor at a laser place and asked her if they would do a patch test on me before doing a full treatment. She said they only did that on Hispanic and Black skin. My skin is pale, so I won't need a patch test. If you are concerned about pigment discoloration, insist they do a patch test.

I agree. Ask for a patch test! I didn't get one before I started (I've only had one treatment thus far), but if you're unsure, I'd recommend it. I think your results might depend on the type of laser though. It took about 3 weeks after my first treatment for me to start seeing a difference. The place I go to has all different types of lasers for different skin types. If your skin is darker I'm sure you can find a laser setting that'll work for you...you just might need more treatments than someone who is super fair. I'm pretty fair myself, and they told me I might need about 11!
