Default Laser Hair Removal & Pregnancy

Does anyone that has had laser hair removal done, know if you can have it done while pregnant?

We are TTC and I want to buy a package for several facial laser hair removal treatments, but don't want to spend the $$ on the package if I can't do it while pg. I'm thinking its not the safety issue, as maybe the hair growth is not so bad while pregnant. I think if I remember right when I was pg with dd, the hair growth was a lot better but not completey gone.

I know I shouldn't not to or do something based on planning I will be pg soon but the package is 5 treatments that will last over 10 months. And if you buy in a package it is 50% off per session!! It is a super savings.

Thanks!

I doubt very much whether there's anything in laser that's going to harm the baby. But I certainly wouldn't want to risk it, myself. Why not postpone it until the baby is born?

There is also the fact that while you're pregnant estrogen levels are relatively higher and most women have less facial hair -- it's the point in their life that they're most feminine and nearest to the normal female hormonal balance. Maybe 6 months after the birth is the most appropriate time to start laser -- by then, if there's any rebound, the male-type growth will be re-established and there'll be something to laser.

In any case, when one's obviously pregnant I don't think shaving has the same "defeminizing" effect.

The clinic where I had my laser hair removal done will not treat you if you are pregnant. That being said, I did not realize this was their policy and had two treatments early on in my pregnancy.

Anyway, it won't hurt the baby, but it might hurt your skin. I found that the areas that were treated when I was pregnant later developed some minor pigmentation issues.
