I have sensitive skin and was fine. I just told them to keep shooting-I get red easily. By the time I got home I was fine. If you ahve them turn the laser up you do get redder but again I was fine.

My Mood: Points: 100.85 Bank: 801.55 Total Points: 902.40 | What kind of laser or IPL did you get?
(please include brand name or any info. you have)
I don't know. I am going to American Laser Centers.
How long ago and for what duration?
Now. I was told it will take 10 months
How many actual treaments did you receive?
So far 2. I go for my third in 2 weeks.
What color is the hair that was being treated?
Black
What color/shade is your skin?
Fair
Do you know what setting the technician used?
The highest
What were/are your results?
I have noticed the most results on my legs. When I don't shave I see large hairless areas. It's hard to tell on my upper lip, because I'm not willing to stop shaving to find out. I have had pretty good results on my underarms too.
How much did it cost?
Around $2500 for the three areas, but I won $300 worth and got 50% off my underarms and upper lip. They threw in the small spot on my chin and cheek for free since I only had a few hairs.
Would you do it again?
Yes, but I would wait until I had more money.
Did insurance cover any of it?
No. |

I think this is a good method for maintenance. At first I went every month. Then every six weeks, and then every other month. Recently, I've been going once only every three months or so. How much did it cost?
$900 for the first 5 treatments. $75 after the 5th treatment. Would you do it again?

Did this happen to many of you? Was it the softer hair or the coarser hair that did this?

having IPL on my chin. are there different kinds of IPL? All I know is it's IPL. Anyone else tried IPL? All the other posts seem to be about other Laser treatment.
How long ago and for what duration?
I just had my second treatment on my chin. haven't really noticed a difference yet but I will have about 6 treatments in total on my chin.
How many actual treaments did you receive?
2 so far.
What color is the hair that was being treated?
black
What color/shade is your skin?
Fairly Light.
Do you know what setting the technician used?
no
What were/are your results?
Haven't seen much improvement yet but shave chin everyday.
How much did it cost?
$80 for one treatment
Would you do it again?
yes, I will continue until I've done 6 treatments. Unless I get pregnant in the meantime - don't think you're supposed to have IPL when pregnant.

They will examine your skin and skin type, make sure you understand what you are deciding to do, ask about family history, etc. At that point you mention the PCOS.

Did this happen to many of you? Was it the softer hair or the coarser hair that did this? | my side hair and chin hair is light but it occassionally will havea black one in it so I just pluck it. I can also only see the dark hair only in extree light. This is different from the lip/chin area where it was black in no matter what light.

Points: 222.64 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 222.64 | Meladine and Laser Hello everybody,
I have PCOS. I have always been a little bit more hairy than your usual normal woman. However, recently I have upgraded from using Minoxidil 2% to Minoxidil 5% and used it for 3 months. My dermatologist discontinued it and put me back on 2% as she said that the 5% infuses into the blood and may cause hair growth in places other than the scalp. I have noticed that my facial hair has tripled since and it is very furry but blonde. Some of these hairs become darker or brown towards the roots. In a few weeks, I am going to have laser done at a clinic and they are using the Lightsheer diode laser. They have advised me against the blonde hair as they are adamant that laser will not treat it. First, if these blonde hairs are subjected to laser, would they grow back coarser? Would they fall out in the first place? I recently discovered about Meladine. Anybody with real experience with Meladine? |

Personally, I have had marginal success with laser/IPL but I think it's because I used the wrong one for my skin type...
I would like to hear from everyone who can take the time to post about the specifics of their treatments, and I hope it will be useful to others: What kind of laser or IPL did you get?
(please include brand name or any info. you have) I don't know.. I'll ask How long ago and for what duration?
I've been doing this for 2-3 years How many actual treaments did you receive?
once every 2 months-ish What color is the hair that was being treated?
dark brown What color/shade is your skin?
descendent of welsh miner skin Do you know what setting the technician used?
oh.. i guess i am a little behind on the info What were/are your results?
hair goes away for a while.. How much did it cost?
187.50 per treatment to cover 'stache, chin, breasts, naval line, bikini, arm pits and toes for good measure; see it's not so bad if you negotiate. You need to chat with the technician and let them know what you need and what you can do. Understand taht the first treatments will be more expensive as it's more work. And it will be more painful. The longer the hair the more it hurts... Would you do it again?
and again and again Did insurance cover any of it?
nope
Thanks in advance to all who reply. If one of the moderators catches this would you please tell me how to re-do this as a sticky, or if a poll format would be better.
I will reply and post my results.
Cheers!

Right now I am in no hurry. Hair is all I have ever known (My sisters are just as hairy so I never thought anything about it until I was Dx). But I know one day here soon I am not going to care for it...for the most obvious reasons
