Default Question on Laser?

Hi fellow cysters, I have being getting electrolysis done for the last 6 yrs (yeh!). Every week, $200 a month. I have spent a fortune. I have had good results. However, after reading all your posts I am motivated to get laser. My PCP does "elos" laser (http://www.syneron.com). I have brown skin (I am Indian). Anyone have idea on this type of laser. What is the best laser for brown skin? I appreciate any suggestions. Any idea on laser consultants in Irvine, CA area?

I have brown skin and dark hair, and it works fine. Lasers have really 'come a long way."

I hope to someday get some treatment. I really need to read up about this. I thought electrolysis was permanet? What the difference between elctrolyiss and laser? I need something premanat or close to it. I cant afford to pay 200 a month for the rest of my lefe. Any info would be appreciated.

Nothing is permanent when u have PCOS. I got my first laser on friday with a dermatologist. Since I have brown skin I got Gentle YAG laser. My dermatologist was up front with me and told me that I would need several treatments for the face. I don't have lot of hair on my face. I was really excited she would do my sides but she said my hair was too light for laser. She said if it done on light hair laser would induce more hair growth instead of decreasing it. So, I am confused. But she did do chin and upper lip for $150. I am trying to get pregnant, if I do get pregnant my docotor said she would not do laser on me. In fact she discouraged me from doing even electrolysis. She things when the hormones are out of wack during pregnancy any procedure would cause scars or hyper or hypo pigmentation. Anyway, until I get pregnant I am going to get laser for upper lip and chin and electrolysis for side buns. So, good luck for u. I recommend laser and find the right doctor. Even though I am a bit disappointed my doctor was very straight forward with me.

only4some1special and KatCarney, what type of laser are you ladies getting? I got my 1st treatment on friday and already see some hairs growing back. From what I understand the hair should fall. I am not sure if that's going to happen. Can u ladies share what happened after your treatment.

The first time I had it, I had Cool Glide. Now I'm getting Yag (like you)...but I've only had one treatment, so it's too soon too tell.

The laser ONLY works on hair that is in the 'anagen' phase, so as other hairs that 'weren't' in the anagen phase at the time of your treatment enter the anagen phase, they continue to grow.

When I had Cool Glide, I didn't really notice the 'fall out' until the second treatment. Also, if any hairs were in telogen or [whatever that third phase is], they won't fall out since they weren't affected. You just have to wait until they enter anagen...
