The hairs should start falling out 10-14 days after treatment. The LHR techs that I talked to told me not to tweeze/wax after sessions. Just shave.
Maybe you will see results if you don't tweeze and when they increase the settings during your next treatments......
(I can see hair coming off when I exfoliate my skin 2 weeks after treatments.)

sciton laser

How long ago and for what duration?
started in June, going for 3rd treatment the first of Nov.

How many actual treaments did you receive?

What color is the hair that was being treated?
very dark brown/black

What color/shade is your skin?
very fair

Do you know what setting the technician used?
she increased it "by 4" each time (not sure that that means)

What were/are your results?
AMAZING! After only 2 treatments I am only shaving 1-2 times per week! ABSOLUTELY no pain, redness, bumps...just no hair!

How much did it cost?
$200 per session (the cheapest I could find around here)

Would you do it again?
ABSOLUTELY

Did insurance cover any of it?
I tried to get it covered but my insurance denied me because they said it was cosmetic. I do know of one person (in real life) that is covered 100%. Also there are a few people on the boards who claim to be covered.

Hope this helps!

Default Blondes?

I had looked into laser treatment and was told that as long as my hair had pigment the laser would work. But now I've heard that if you are blonde it won't. I really want to get my chin and sideburns done. But I have so many blonde mixed with a light brown. Does anyoen have any information? Thanks!!

If you haven't been seeing great results with laser, I feel the same way... but apparently I'm wrong.

I'm waiting for Monday for blood test results/ultrasound/appt with GYN to see if I really have PCOS... but I've been getting laser treatments for 1.5 years now and still have facial hair.

I have very fair skin with dark hair, so I should have been the perfect candidate. As of today, I still shave everyday (never pluck!), and most of the hair on my neck is gone. However, the bottom of my chin is still horrible.

Last Thursday when I met with my GYN she said that she used to do laser treatments in her old office and it actually looked like they were doing a good job. Some people just take longer to respond.

I know it's expensive, but if you go through American Laser Center, you can get a Care Credit credit card with no interest for 1 year. My monthly payments were somewhere around $90. Now, I'm getting free treatments because of their 2 year guarantee. I would suggest entering their raffle on their website, I got $300 off and then when I went in for the consultation, they charged me $1000 overall.

Anyway, my GYN put me on Yaz to help with the facial hair before I get a conclusive diagnosis about PCOS... but suggested that I keep up with the laser treatments for now.

Talking

What kind of laser or IPL did you get?
I am not sure but I can find out!

How long ago and for what duration?
2nd treatment today

How many actual treaments did you receive?
2 so far and will have a total of 6
What color is the hair that was being treated?
black and coarse

What color/shade is your skin?
I am italian so I have a bit of a darker skin tone
sort of olive.
Do you know what setting the technician used?
No clue
What were/are your results?
I had a lot of coarse hair and after the first treatment on my face and back it was a MAJOR improvement. Laser is a blessing for women w/ PCOS and a confidence booster. I never thought I would have had such success after just 2 treatments.
How much did it cost?
1500.00 total for 6 treatments

Would you do it again?
100% YES YES YES

Did insurance cover any of it?
NO!

I have a question: Did you ladies have to shave prior to your laser treatment? I want to get my upper lip done but the place I called said I have to shave prior... I really don't want to shave...

Yes, you need to start shaving for about 6 weeks prior to your first laser treatment, and continue to shave in between treatments. If you pluck or wax, you are just throwing your money away on the laser. There won't be any root there for the laser to destroy.
It sucks, but it's the only option if you want laser removal. Fortunately, it's a temporary problem that will hopefully result in permanant hair reduction. I despise having to shave, but the thought of being rid of this hair for good is motivation to keep doing it.

I thought laser was pretty permanant? I know you have to get touch ups once in a while but I really thought it was pretty much eliminating the growth....

It eliminates 'current' growth. Months, years later other follies might still start to develop terminal (coarse) hairs.

Once you get your laser done (even 'as' you get it done), best to get/keep your androgens under control.

Default Considering Laser.. insurance Q

I contacted my insurance company to see if there was a possibility it could be covered considering the DX of PCOS. However, they told me they found nothing about it being covered or not and would need to go through my physician. My question is... upon consult at this laser clinic I have in mind, should I ask if they attempt insurance... or how do I go about this?

I need lots of areas lasered, and will probably have to go in phases due to the expense, but I'm excited!
