Points: 55,533.57 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 55,533.57 | It's been almost two weeks since I had my laser and at this time about 75% of the hair that was growing back in has fallen out. I am using a 2 inch roll of packing tape to grab some of the hairs that aren't falling out yet. I am very pleased with the results. Because the nurse used a scanner to do the procedure she will be doing a re-touch on me in one week to get the hairs she missed. The areas I had done are underarm, full bikini, abdomen and upper middle back. The total cost of my laser was $499. I ended up doing electrolyis on my upper lip because the hairs weren't really dark enough yet to do an effective laser treatment.

Points: 35.00 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 35.00 | LightSheer lazer results Hi Everybody!
I just wanted to say that I had the last of five lazer treatments on my face and neck on March 17th 2005, now it's December 12, 2005 and so far very few thick hairs have grown back these past 9 months. I used to have thick black hair on my chin and on two patches on my neck, also I had thick side burns and I was beginingto grow thick hairs on my jawline. Now after having the LightSheer lazer treatments along with changing to a low carb diet, loosing 65 Ilbs, and taking Spironolactone and Orthotricycline for a little over a year, I have only two or three thick hairs on my chin and very few on my neck and the hairs on my sideburns are fewer and thinner (Most women have thin sideburns so I guess what I have now is normal). The lazer has not removed all of the hair, the very fine dark hairs on my face were not damaged by it but they are easy to bleach or remove with nair and there isn't any thick stubble left to show through the skin. I look like a normal woman now and I am no longer ashamed to show my face in public anymore. I would suggest that anyone with facial hair try this lazer, but I have to say, you must go to a dermatologist otherwise you could get terrible skin damage and also you must get your free testosterone down to a normal female level and keep it there,or else new hair folicals will grow in place of the folicals that were killed by the lazer. If your hormones are still out of normal range you definitely will not have success with this treatment. I'll leave another message here in a few months to tell you whether the results have changed for me. Good luck with your health and happiness everybody! |

Lightsheer
How long ago and for what duration?
1st treatment: 1/12/06
How many actual treaments did you receive?
Upper lip, chin, neck and lower side burns @ jaw line.
What color is the hair that was being treated?
Dark brown
What color/shade is your skin?
My face is very fair.
Do you know what setting the technician used?
No, forgot to ask. Sorry!!
What were/are your results?
Immediately the hair popped right out. I had all these little singed hairs sitting on top of my skin. Weird! The next day I hardly have any hair in the spots she treated. The doc said I would get really good results!! It was painful on my upper lip (like the meanest rubber band snap you can imagine) but I have a numbing cream for the next session.
How much did it cost?
$1000 for 5 treatments spaced 6 weeks apart.
Would you do it again?
I am going back on 2/23/06.
Did insurance cover any of it?
I am going to start bugging my insurance company today. |

Points: 110.00 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 110.00 | Hi cysters,
Here's my 2 cents,
I had this done a few years ago, so forgive me for not remembering the details of the treatment. 1st I would do this again in a heart beat! 2nd beware of small organizations, I paid for 6 treatments for the "deal" and they went out of business after my 5th treatment. So beware.
What I do remember is that I had my chin and mustache done 5x's and both arms 3x's. I have had minimal re-growth, it has been wonderful! At the time the technician said she had never met anyone who had 2 hairs growing out of allot of my folicle's. Lucky me!
Yes it hurts, especially the mustache, I was told that the nerve endings on the face all go toward the mustache area. My advice, take alot of advil before you go, I tried the numbing creams, but found they did not help me, much, if at all. Again, would I do it again, yes, the outcome is worth the discomfort, as someone posted earlier, the pain is only during the treatment.
Hope that helps.

Points: 227.00 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 227.00 | Laser treats I've had success w/laser hair removal and my problem was pretty serious too. I will look into the type of laser that was used and get back to you. My hair color was dark and I could not have any kind of a tan at time of treatment, I have a light olive complexion... It felt like little pricks or like being snapped by a rubber band when they were treating me (my hubby came in and held my hand for moral support) and I've had eight treatments altogether. The thing is though, new hair can grow after a couple of years and you will need to go back for more treatments. But believe me it is ALOT better than plucking or shaving. And, after the very first treatment, the hair is gone for about five weeks until the next cycle starts to grow in. I paid approximately $295.00 per treatment and that covered from the cheekbones to the colar bones. It is so nice to have smooth skin without shadows or bumps! GO FOR IT GIRLS! |

I was so worried laser wouldn't work either. I started spironolactone this week and hope to be ready for laser by the time I graduate. I am going to have laser done this summer for my Nursing school graduation gift!
Thanks again!

My laser tech said to come every 4-6 weeks for a while. I had scheduled it for 5 weeks but I has to bump it up a week because of other plans.
I have just now noticed new growth after about 3 weeks. I assume it's because new hair is starting it's cycle. I have already paid for 4 treatments that I plan on taking every 4-6 weeks to get everything gone (hopefully).
I plan on having to do upkeep every 3 months or so because I haven't had any blood work done so I don't know where my hormones are . $70 every few months is worth not having the hair.
How have your treatments gone and what are your results,

My Mood: Points: 1,162.46 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 1,162.46 | Sharing my Lazer Hair Removal Experience
I went to two places today. The first was a one woman operation sharing office space with a spinal (chiropractor) office, which was pretty weird since there I was sitting in a waiting room with half a beard and feeling like I was a freak show while the other patients came in for adjustments. The technician did a good job of explaining how hair growth occurs, what to expect from electrolysis vs. lazer hair removal, then she did a small test area which was quite uncomfortable. She had an older lazer machine that looked and sounded like an old Hoover canister vac (I kid you not) and it was the kind where they put ice on your face then do a quick zap with the lazer. It was kind of weird as it made a "snap" each time. Her suggestion to me would be to lazer the bigger areas, then hit the rest with weekly electrolysis visits for the best results. Her package deal : $360 for 6 lazer treatments then $21 to $61 /week for the electrolysis and she estimated it would be 6-18 months of that! Wow I can see my husband's jaw drop when I tell him that!
The second place I went to was an upscale medical spa where an actual doctor talked to me briefly about lazer hair removal. Then two nice technicians took me to the comfortable procedure room where I had my entire neck, chin, upper lip and cheeks lazered with some new machine- called "Profile" which can target both dark pigmented and blonde hairs (I have both) They used a cool-glide application and lots of messy gel on my face but both of the ladies were very skilled and it was over within 15 minutes. Not very painful just felt kind of tingly in a couple of places. They had a special and only charged me $50 for this visit and I am supposed to go back in 6 week intervals for about 5-6 more sessions- all of which will run me $400 total (no surprises). The doctor suggested that some of his patients are able to get their insurance companies to pay for a portion of the services if it's medically related condition so I may try to see about getting some of it approved. This place had a full range of other cosmetic services (Botox, Micro-dermabrasion, etc. ) so they seem to do it all.
So that wasn't a bad experience the first time around getting lazered by two different people today!
Have to see if this treatment will do anything to slow down the hair growth. I do know that my face didnt swell/get as red with this as it did with the electrolysis and I liked it better because it was over with quicker. The surface of the skin where they did the treament feels a little numb but I think that's because of the gel they put on my face earlier to make it more comfortable. They even put a nice lotion/sunscreen on me before I left.
I'll keep ya posted on my results over the next few days and treatments ahead.
Just wanted to share this with anyone who may be contemplating having it done.
