If they need to remove your makeup, they can provide you something to take it off. The place I go gives me packaged cleansing cloths to remove my makeup when I go for a treatment. They have well trained eyes since they are used to looking at everybody's hair. You can probably shave that day or if you want to make sure is shows up, shave the night before. They want your to shave before a treatment, so that the laser is not attracted just to the surface of your skin.
More than likely they will talk about costs, number of treatments, what you can expect, and precautions you must take during treatment (like no sunning). Most places consider the upper lip, chin (including front neck area) and jawline three separate areas, but will give you a combo deal. They may also offer you a deal to pay up front that should be less than pay as you go. They may size up your skin type and do a test patch on your skin. If you decide to purchase the treatments, they can probably treat you that day.
You should take a list of your medicines with you. They will need to know what you are taking.
Ask them about touchups after their recommended number of treatments are complete. The place I go says free touchups forever if you pay up front for the number they recommend. Also ask about free touchups in between treatments. Sometimes, especially during the first couple of treatments, they manage to miss a big spot.
One thing they won't tell you is that laser can't get it all. If you have white or gray hair or fine dark hair, the laser won't get it. You may eventually need electrolysis to finish the job.
There is a great hair removal forum at
