laser treatment on the nhs

I have just been reading another post about laser hair removeral.

Last year I asked my gp about getting it on the nhs. For the last three years i have been suffering with depression and my gp agreed that getting some laser treatment may help. My gp then wrote to the local primary care trust who have the power to allow me treatment. I ended up waiting ages to be told that i would need to send in photos to prove how bad a problem it is. After all this i was refused. They are giving me drugs that could have god knows what side effects.I am on finastride which is only surpost to be used in men.

It is as they say a post code lottery. If i lived about a mile down the road the likely hood of me getting it on the nhs would be good. I have friends that have had so many sessions and have seen such a good result.

When my depression got bad i was sent to my local mentle health unit. I had to cut down on the hours i worked and now can't get any more. The thing is that i can't afford to pay for my laser treatment so i now have to suffer.

I really think that it should be available to people or at least help in paying for it.

sorry you cant get any sence from your primary trust. What a nightmare. The nhs postcode lottery is awful. Wonder what they would say if you reapplied??

hope you get some answers soon.
