Well 2 years after being diagnosed with diabetes type II, I got the best news on my recent Hem A1/C. It was 5.0!!!!

As my dr put it, it is like I'm not even diabetic anymore. He is so proud of me, and hey, I'm proud of me too!

I worked hard to get where I am!
The only problem I seem to be having is keeping the weight from going back up. I originally lost 57 pounds, now I have gained about ten pounds back (though I lost about 3 because I was sick for a week! Not my favorite weight loss plan!)
Part of my initiative to stick to my diet was the fact that I was losing weight but now I seem to have adjusted to the glucaphage.
I see so many posts about people being discouraged, and I just wanted to let people know that you can begin to see a light at the end of the tunnel, but never lose track that this is an ongoing process. You can't let your guard down. You have to stay vigilent. It isn't an overnite success story, but it has only been 2 years and believe me it took longer than 2 years to gain all this weight. I've been gaining weight since I was 21.
