Default Lawsuit against Yaz/Yasmin

I have been seeing the commercial for the lawsuit against Yaz/Yasmin for people who have had blood clots and stokes. I thought with all birth control pills that you run the risk for blood clots and stokes. And increased risk if you are over the age of 35 or are a smoker. Also I thought that Yaz/Yasmin are the best birth control pills for people with PCOS because of the ingredients in them.

So my question is, is Yaz/Yasmin really that awful/harmful? I need to switch to a new pill because the Yaz is not working for me any more. I am having a lot of break through bleeding and pain. I was on Yasmin before and it worked fine. So I thinking of going back on Yasmin. But if Yasmin is harmful then I want to be on something else. Let me know your thoughts or what birth control pill you think works that best. Thanks!

I brought this up to my doctor and he believed the complications the lawsuits were talking about were the same ones you could have with any birth control pill. I haven't had a chance to do any further research though.

My doctor said the people who did that commercial are a bunch of crooks. I personally have not researched it. But he also mentioned that you have the same risks with blood clots, etc. that you do with any BCP.

There have been many people on these boards who seem to have responded well to Yaz/Yasmin.

I will give you my experience. I was placed on Yaz (at my request) about 3 weeks ago. After a day or so of taking it, I began to get extremely fatigued. I did not have any energy whatsoever. I also started getting slightly depressed. A week later--I started having some brown spotting (sorry, TMI!!) and then a full on period. I am still bleeding 2 weeks later. The scary symptoms started this past weekend. I started feeling pressure in my chest & shortness of breath. Then I started having EXTREME nausea and heart palpitations. I initially dismissed it as anxiety and fatigue. However, I know my body well enough to know when something is not right. The shortness of breath and nausea continued and I finally went to the doctor.

Now, I am scheduled for an echocardiogram to make sure that my heart is functioning properly. I am not saying that I didn't have some sort of pre-existing condition. But, I felt 100% better today. I still have some shortness of breath, but the palpitations and nausea are completely gone. I stopped taking Yaz 2 days ago.

I took YAZ for over two years and got gallbladder disease and then removal. It was horrible! I contacted a lawyer to find out what's up, it doesn't seem like a coincidence to me, I'll find out. Probably nothing will come with it, but I did make a report to the FDA.

Every BCP has these risks, but I believe it's significantly higher for those taking Yaz. I've been on Yaz for over a year now, and from the start experienced daily nausea, but kept taking it anyway. However, about 3 weeks ago, I started getting excruciating migraines on a daily basis, and all I can do is lay around/sleep because the pain is so bad. My Dr told me it was just from stress. About a week ago, I also started experiencing ear pain, the kind you get from an ear infection, but not constant.

After doing much researching, I've found out all of this is caused from Yaz/Yasmin, and that many other women are having the same issues as well. If you experience these symptoms, stop taking Yaz immediately! The migraines are a possible sign for future stroke, and the ear pain is caused from an imbalance in ear fluid (which is composed of sodium/potassium) Knowing that Yasmin/Yaz contains the potassium sparing diuretic means essentially, that all the peeing we do while on it, while it spares potassium, creates the imbalance in fluid levels/electrolyte levels in our bodies. I think that doctors need to start doing their research, because I know mine didn't even consider my BCP as the culprit. Many young women are experiencing PE's, blood clots, and gallbladder disease, more than you hear about on any other BCP. I think we'll be hearing much more about the lawsuits for Yaz in the near future. If you're interesting in reading more about womens testimonials and information on Yaz, I've found this forum quite helpful, it's one of the forums that helped me realize what was wrong with me is NOT normal!
