Hello,
I'm an inactive lds sister. I don't have much to share. I'm not TTC (baby makin days behind me). I was diagnosed with PCOS just a few months ago after having it for the better part of 5 years. I'm on metformin and that's making it a little better. I've had one period in the last 4 months (which is still an improvement over what was). I've been inactive for more then 2 years but still have visiting teachers come regularly and they are awesome. They're actually coming to my home tomorrow for brunch. If you have any questions or comments or anything you'd like to share, please feel free to contact me!

I'm living in Washington state right now but was raised in Idaho. I am LDS and was inactive for the majority of my life but recently was reactivated in 2000. My husband joined the church in 2000 as well. It was a big year! I was diagnosed with PCOS in 1995 when I went for 9 months without AF. I recently had two cycles (the only 2 naturally) since my diagnosis without medication to induce them other than Glucophage XR. I have been taking Glucophage XR for almost 2 years and just added Avandia a week ago. I hope it will help us in our ttc journey. We "officially" adopted our son on Christmas Eve 2003 although we received him into our home in April of 2002. It took that long to get his adoption final. It was a really long journey, but well worth it. We would love to add to our family and have been ttc for 8 years. It has been difficult but I have to say that the knowledge we have been given as LDS sisters has helped me tremendously. I hope your ttc journey is going well. If you ever want to chat just shoot me an email. Good luck!
Sincerely,
Danielle

Danielle, I live in Utah but moved from Idaho a year ago.
I have a little boy who turned 2 in July. He joined our family through adoption and came home at 2 days old.
Dh and I were married in '95 and started ttc right away. After 4 years with no success we turned to adoption, which turned out to be a long and difficult process too. We've been ttc again for about 18 months, but only the last 8 months or so have been serious.
I just got diagnosed with pcos last week after going back to the RE. I"d been working with a naturopath for most of this past year and was enjoying doing things "naturally", but just felt impressed that we needed to be more aggressive. I do not seem to be the typical "cyster" as I am having regular periods and am not overweight, so I'm not sure how everything will play out. I am starting met this week. I know there are more children for us and have felt led to ttc again.

Hi there! I'm a Colorado LDS cyster. I was born and raised in Vernal, Utah and now I live outside of Denver, Colorado with my husband and our 10 month old daughter.
I was diagnosed in '99 and after some time spent TTC I was able to conceive with the help of metformin. I'm hoping to start TTC a 2nd child sometime in the next year - I just have to convince DH!!

I'm an LDS cyster living in Hawaii , but we're hoping to be home in Arizona soon! I've been a member all of my life but was inactive through most of my 20's. I finally decided to go back after I got married. My DH was pagan when we married, but he converted back in 2002 and we were sealed in 2003. (I'm so happy about that!!!)
We have been TTC for about 2 and a half years and have had 2 m/c earlier this year. I've been doing clomid and seeing an RE. We're thinking about adopting once we get out of school.
I'm so glad you started this thread, Alicia. It's nice to know some of my fellow LDS cysters. Until I met Danielle in another thread I thought I was the only one! ::
Please feel free to email or PM me anytime!

Just wanted you lds cysters to know that my son and I are getting a blessing tonight from the bishop. It's only the second blessing that I've had. I'm inactive but some amazing things have been happening lately in my life that have touched my heart. Here is what's been happening. Some history first:
I lived in GA for a while, when my family was waiting to get into military housing in Jacksonville FL. I met a girl named Liz there. She was a member of the church. The first time I saw her she was sitting in front of me during sacrament with her family. It seemed like all of her kids were my kids ages, even on down to the twins. I was pregnant with # 4 at the time. I tapped her on the shoulder to ask about the kids and we hit it off from that moment. When she got up after sacrament I noticed that she was pregnant too, with #4. We became great friends and seemed to live a very parallel life. Our husbands weren't members (at the time) and so we were bearing the full weight of spiritual guidance for ourselves and children.
Short story long, we never fell out of touch, despite 5 years of military moves. She went on to have her 5th child, while I stopped at 4 (but that is a whole other story as I feel that another child will find his/her way to our family...just not sure if it will happen in this lifetime). We both experienced some of the same medical issues. We were both diagnosed with adult ADD at around the same time and were both in denial for several months following diagnosis.
Here is where it gets interesting. She called me out of the blue the other day. Everytime that one of us calls, it is sooo NEEDED. It's like she knows when I need her and vice versa. When we hang, we argue about who needed the call more. It's hilarious. This past conversation (on Sunday), she told me about a blessing that she just had. She said that she asked her father for a blessing because she felt so out of whack (she mentioned hormones). In her blessing she was told that Heavenly Father was aware of what was going on within her body and that there were docters who would discover something that had yet gone undiagnosed. She was also told that left unattended, it had potential to become cancerous and affect her whole system. So when I started asking her about hormone problems and symptoms it started having an all too familiar ring. Irregular or non-existent periods, feeling depressed, lethargy, weight gain, difficulty in losing weight, hypoglycemia......the list goes on. I pipe up and ask her, "have u had any beautiful black hairs sprout on your chin?". She stops dead and says, "yes, how did you know??"
I go on to tell her about PCOS and it turns out that she's already had one ovary removed bc it was extremely poly-cystic. She'd never heard of PCOS. Her symptoms were alleviated for a while but then they came right back. She's been to docters and nobody has been able to tell her what's wrong. She was in tears when we said goodbye and told me that she felt a lot of hope. Of course it could be something completely different, but we'll see.
So next part of the story......(hang in there, it's almost over)...
She doesn't ask me if I'm active again in the church yet (she knows i've been inactive for some time), but she tells me that I'll be getting a blessing soon. I was like, "we'll see".
Later that night, a sister stops by the house to drop me off a goodie bag. These cute little homemade bean bags that you can microwave or freeze and use for sore muscles, etc. I'd only met her once before, nearly a year ago. She says, "I've been thinking about your family and wanted to drop these by to say 'you haven't BEAN around for a while' and to see if there was anything I could do for you". Corny, but cute. I'm not even going to mention that she looks amazing like my friend Liz and has same mannerisms. Her and I start talking and talking and I tell her about some of the things that I've been up to and how one of my twins is being tested for Cystic Fibrosis this week (on tuesday). I start getting so emotional and I look up and she has tears streaming down her face. Great, I've made this cheery woman cry. She wraps her arms around me and gives me the biggest hug. Of course I'm crying too. She asks me if she can arrange for my son to have a blessing and adds that I should have a blessing of comfort. I agree and she sets up a time for Monday night (tonight) for the bishop and some missionaries to come to my home. As soon as I said goodbye to her and closed the door, I broke down. I was so filled with gratitude and quickly thought of my conversation with Liz. Now I have an even BETTER arguement that I needed her phone call more then she needed mine, but I know she'd argue my same point.
Heavenly Father works in mysterious ways Cyster-Sisters, and you don't have to be LDS to realize that. But boy oh boy has this sparked my testimony. I think it serves as an awesome reminder that we are His children and He's always mindful of what's in our hearts and what's going on in our lives.
Thanks for hearing me out. I just felt very inspired to share this with you since it is PCOS related & LDS related & otherwise related.

I also am LDS and my husband and I have been trying for at least 5-6 years to have a baby. We have gone thru 2 ivf procedures and 9 iui's. Money is short so dh finally said enough is enough and if God wants us to have a baby then so be it, but no more trying, well besides temping.
Dh is not LDS, he is Catholic and sometimes I think it may be a blessing that we don't have children for the plain reason that we may fight on religion in bringing up our child. I do belive that we would be the best of parents and part of my heart is empty right now.
Good to know that there are other LDS on this board.
Inge

Well, at Ellie's urging, I decided to go ahead and add my post here. Yup, I am LDS...single returned missionary. I wasn't going to post because I am having other baby-less pangs...the single sister trying to cope variety.
Some days I struggle more than others at understanding my Father's plan for my life.
But I know he has one! And I know that someday, when I see and understand it, I'll be glad for it.
Cheers!
Tori

I am an LDS Cyster living in Reno, NV. I was diagnosed with PCOS in Oct. of 2001 after ttc for 3 years. Our son was conceived after 3 months of Metformin and Avandia and weight loss. We are currently ttc #2 (for about a year now). I am very discouraged right now, and am having problems keeping my faith intact as far as this goes-if Heavenly Father wants me to have children, why did He give me a body that won't cooperate? Why are there so many unmarried teens getting pregnant right and left, and not me?
If any of you have any words of support or encouragement you could offer, I would appreciate it.
PS- I am new to this site, and forums in general, and I am noticing a lot of abbreviations on here. Is there somewhere I can go to get a list of them all and what they mean? (ttc I know, but the rest?)
