I had it and found it extremely painful. Took a few days to recover. Got a really bad infection and I wouldn't go to the hospital right away so I got fairly sick and it took about a month to recover from the infection.Had one doctor mention to me during a pap that my cervix looked like it had a hack job done to it. I have heard that more than one will cause you to not be able to have a healthy pregnancy but I have read on here other women who have had it done and had healthy pregnancys. It puts you at a higher risk for incompetent cervix. I would not have it again. And if I knew what I knew now about LEEP I would have had cryosurgery or another procedure done instead.
That's just my experience though many women have it done pain free and problem free I was not one of the lucky ones.

I had it done about 11 years ago for cancerious cells. It was not any trouble for me and my recovery was very minimal, just a few days. Of course I was only 19 at the time. I haven't had any trouble and have had a very successful pregnancy since then (dd is 9 months old this week). It sounds like I am one of the lucy ones.
I had a LEEP done in july 2003. I had no problems with it. I had precancerous cells on my cervix. My dr gave me twilight and it was done. I had no very little pain and very little bleeding afterward. I was 28 when it was done.

I had a leep done in June of 2002. It wasn't neccessarily painful, but it didn't feel good. I had some mild bleeding but the worst part (this may be TMI) was that the dead tissue sloffs (SP?) off afterwards. It's pretty gross. Also, (again, TMI) you can smell kind of "burning" skin when they're doing it. It's essentially an electricution of the cervical tissue to kill the abnormal areas.
Anyway, hope I didn't freak you out. It's not all that bad I just thought I'd let you know what I went through so you may be prepared if the same thing happens to you.
