Default Length effect loss?

Does anyone else notice that when their hair is longer it falls out more? I mean.. my hair is never really that thick, but still when I keep my hair short, it doesn't seem to fall out, but when I try to grow it out some, it's all over me in the shower! Just wondering if anyone else thought the same thing here

My hair is down to my tush right now. I lose a little more because when it is long it tangles more and is more likely to get caught on things. I don't seem to lose more in the shower. One thing I've noticed is losing a hair that is almost 3 feet long can make it look like a lot of hair.

I'm not sure how you define "long" and "short", but I had my hair super short "pixie cut" style for years, and coincidentally, it started to fall around the same time I started growing it out, about 7 months ago. Now it's chin length, and in that 7 months it's gone from super thick to pretty dang thin.

I don't think that chin-length hair is heavy enough to cause increased hair loss, but it's interesting (and sad) to me that the hair loss started (or at least became noticeable) RIGHT when it started getting longer.

I wanted to add that when my hair was really short, I never noticed loose hairs. I think that now that it's longer, I just notice them more. So maybe it was falling out a lot when it was short, too, but I just didn't notice. Before I cut it short (about five years ago) it was shoulder length and super thick, and I felt like I lost a ton every day. It was just my average shed, though.

I think I'm still shedding an average amount, but it's just not growing back once it falls out. That's another factor for me.

I think it's probably a case of noticing them more, since they are longer...

I keep mine shoulder length. My hair is very heavy the longer it gets and I think it strains my roots. I do lose more the longer it gets and it tangles really bad.

When you have long hair it certainly seems like you are losing more hair than you should. I have elbow length hair and it seems like I lose a *lot* but it doesn't look noticeably thinner.

I have always "shed like a dog" according to my brothers phrasing...lol
My poor DH hates the hair everywhere and so it's nice that in our new house we don't have to share a bathroom...lol I shed a lot whether mine is short or long. I have a lot of hair, but it thins more and more every year.
