For once, I don't have the gross problem -- my DH does. He has blackheads all over his nose and they're HUGE. Really gross. He won't do anything about them himself, and every time I try to he says it hurts. He will barely even let me touch his nose. Sometimes he lets me put one of those Biore strips on it but it's not enough -- he needs heavy duty work! Does anyone know ANYTHING I can do to make it not hurt so he'll let me work on them?

I have this issue with DH too but it's more of an obsession I have with popping his blackheads more than anyhting(I know gross). I bought one of those black head things I can't remeber the name it's a little metal rod about the size of a q-tip and it has a circle on the end that you kind of maneveur underneath the black head and it pushes it up. DH says it's not nearly as painful as me "attacking" him. Good Luck maybe another Cyster can put a name to the instrument.

Oh, I have one of those, but he won't let me use it either.

A facial mask will clean his pores right out. I had started to get a lot of blackheads so I decided to give a mask a shot and it worked wonders on those nasty things.....and it is completely pain free, well except for maybe the occassional itch while it dries. lol

On Hubby - I do a double Biore strip. I cleanse his skin really well and use a toner to remove all surface oil - it there is too much surface oil - the strips do not work as well. I leave both strips on about ten minutes each. I do the first one - and it is usually pretty light on what it gets out - but the second one usually hauls out all the junk. I make usre to get the area really wet so the strips really stick and let them dry as throughly as possible before we pull them off.
Aspirin/honey masks also work well - just grind up some plain aspirin - make sure it doesn't have a coating - and then mix into a teaspoon of honey and coat the nose area - sucks them out also.

I use a green clay mask made by St. Ives, it isn't expensive either. If I recall correctly they even make a clay mask that specifically targets blackheads. I am still new to them myself but love this mask and only wish I had known how great they are many years ago. the improvement with just one use was astounding.

Make sure to use a warm washcloth before you atack! Just run it under hot watter for a while, wring it out, and cover the area for a minute. This makes the skin all warm and easy to handle when getting rid of the blackheads or other things on your skin you want to get rid of. When you use the blackhead remover after warming the skin first, it won't hurt and they will come out more easy.
