My Mood: Points: 238.01 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 238.01 | let me intoduce myself..... Hello! This is my first post here. I have so much to learn, I thought this site would be a good place to go! I was diagnosed with PCOS just over a year ago and prescribed the YAZ BCP and told to take Chromium. That was just about all I was told though. I didn't feel like I was given much direction. I really haven't given it much thought but lately it seems to be "kicking my butt". So I have finally decided it's time to take action and control of my health. I bought a book that had allot of good info but if any of you could give me any insight as to now you deal with it I would very much appreciate it. I'm the only one in my family that has it and no one understands it and it's hard to explain it. Wondering how it affects other Women. I've read that it has many "faces". Anyway, thanks in advance for your time! |

Every time I see "let me introduce myself," I always think of Austin Powers saying "allow myself to introduce...myself." Anyways...welcome to SC and I hope you find answers to questions you have and make some good friends.

My Mood: Points: 238.01 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 238.01 | Thanks everyone! Ha! That's funny about Austin Powers! I didn't think of that which surprises me because my Hubby is always quoting that movie!
I read a book that gave me allot of direction and made me realize that I was doing nothing to help my situationg. When I was diagnosed about a year ago, all the Dr. said, who was a Gyno by the way was that Yes, I have PCOS and that I need a BCP and told me to take Chromium to help with my weight problem. I guess I took it that PCOS was no big deal basing it on her attitude. So I didn't give it a whole lot of thought. But have not been feeling well for some time now. I was wondering if my symptoms are related or if I need to get checked out? I've been "blacking out" lately. Like if I'm standing putting make up on or doing dishes or something I get kind of dizzy and it goes black. I don't actually pass out but have a few times. Then my chest feels funny sometimes like maybe heart palpatations but I'm not sure. I'm also tired which sucks because I'm a Mother of two and I have my own cake business that I run out of my home. Which means stress. Lots of stress with Wedding cake orders!
After I read this book, The Savvy Woman's Guide to PCOS by Elizabeth Lee Vliet, M.D. I realized that I've been eating all wrong ,even while I've been following Weight Watchers! And I was not taking any supplements that I need. So my Hubby and I went out and got all the stuff this book said I need. I'm hoping I'll be feeling better soon. I'm wondering what you are taking? What is Metformin? Hoping I am really taking the right stuff and not doing more damage! Has anyone else read this book?
Thanks! A |
