Wink Let me share what worked for my acne

Hello All

Ok -- I was just recently diagnosed with PCOS/IR, but just like many of you -- it took 10 years to get a diagnosis. I have spent more money at my dermatologists office over the past 10 years than any other doctor combined.

I had horrible acne and grew awful cystic-like boils that would only go away with injections.. OUCH!

In 2/05, I read an article about FlaxSeed oil and its benefits. FlaxSeed oil is believed to create natural estrogen. Estrogen battles testosterone. We are experiencing bad acne (and hair loss in some place & growth in others) do to an over production of Testosterone/Androgens.

I take 18,000 IUs of Flaxseed Oil a day. I take the capsule form (1000mg per capsule) 6 capsules with each meal.

So - I am 30 years old and carry around a HUGE pill box! :^) My acne has been under control since 4/05.

My complextion is flawless -- that is something I could say for 10 years!

I hope helps and let me know if you have any questions

Thank you for that great suggestion. Flax seed is also a good source of Omega-3 essential oils, which are EXCELLENT for inflammation, which is generally good for PCOS anyway. It is also good for the joints, and lots of other good benefits. The nice thing about natural remedies is that instead of having bad side effects like drugs, they often have good side benefits!

The only thing I'd like to say, is that hormones don't "battle" eachother - they balance eachother. We MUST get out of this mindset that we must fight our body - we have to work WITH it, give it things that put it in balance. Too much estrogen is bad, too!

Hello,

Flaxseed is great for battling excess testosterone, but in my case the cystic environment is exacerbated by an over-production of estrogen. This is the root cause of my flare-ups and continuous growth-over the regular cyst formed every month during my cycle.

Not having full-blown PCOS, I only had one very large (6.7889cm) left ovarian cyst which ruptured on 6/9/06 is nurtured by lots of estrogen surging through my system. I can't figure out where or what the cause is but as far as acne, at almost 40, I still get it because my skin is very oily on the forehead, bridge of my nose and chin. Witch hazel keeps the pores cleanest but acne is still surfacing, especially during my cycle. When is your flare-up the worst?

Hello. Thank you for sharing your flaxseed experience. I might try it in addition to the Yasmin and very precise daily cleansing routies.

A month ago I started out on Yasmin. I was diagnosed with PCOS when I was younger, about 15, was on birth control for about 3 months, but my family moved around so much somehow the doctors always changed or I never visited. Finally, on my own now, I was able to address some problems I knew I had.

The Yasmin made my face go a bit nuts the first few weeks, but now, in the 4th week, I cannot feel anything surfacing. Yasmin, in addition to using DDF (quite pricey, but good) pumice acne scrub and their gel suncreen and spot treatment (sulfur and tea tree oil), I really feel hopeful that I have things under control. I was frustrated for years and was so stupid not to just admit it was hormonal!

Now working on the weight...eh.

Hello,

Do you think it would be ok to take with Vitex (Chasteberry), EPO, and Multi Vit, i was also thinking Dong Quai, but i believe it may do the same as FlaxSeed oil
