Default Letrazole?

Hi Gals,
Pretty new here. I love this place! Anyway, just wondering if anyone is currently on Letrazole and if so, your experiences. First pg we used Clomid (didn't work) and then injectibles. My fertility doc told me Letrazole is great and has less side effects than the other drugs I was on. We're going to try a few months on just Clomid and if that doesn't work, on to the Letrazole.

Any insights would be great! TIA!

My opinion is to skip the Clomid and go to the letrozole! I did 6 failed cycles with Clomid to no avail! I had horrendous side effects and nobody could stand to be around me! I did the Femara 2 cycles and that is all it took. It doesn't affect you the way Clomid does and it doesn't thin your lining or dry up your cm. It worked for me on my 2nd cycle. If we have to go this route again you can guarantee that this will be the way we go again! Good luck and I will pray for you!

Thanks Shana! Is Femara the same as Letrazole? I have not done my research, obviously! I will *not* go back on Clomid -- it did awful things to me and made me crazy in the head. I was a basket case.

CONGRATS on your pg! That's awesome. Gives me hope for this next cycle!

Gotcha. I've been in somewhat of a denial, hoping simply taking Met will help and won't need the Letrazole. I know it's supposed to be "gentler" than Clomid, but I had such a bad experience, I'm a little gun shy. Therefore, I haven't done my research like I should.

I haven't noticed any side effects at all from the femara! You should come over to the Femara thread...

I agree that you should do some research and think about going with Femara. I had very few s/e with the one round of clomid I did (hot flashes) which ended up with no O, but when I went to a new doc, he put me right onto Femara and skipped the Clomid this time. I have Oed on my first two cycles and am either 1 DPO or getting very close to O with this cycle. The greatest thing is that I have no s/e from it. Another benefit for me is that because it is an off-lable use, I don't even pay a co-pay for it. I know that some do, but I haven't heard of it being too much.

Thanks for the info. We are doing three months of just met and then on to Femara if needed. I'm glad to hear it's working for you with minimal s/e!

You give me great hope that this time it will work. I had failed 5 cycles with clomid ( I used injectables with 2 of those and IUI), but then we ran out of money and took a break. We are just getting started again after about a year break. I switched doctors and he put me on met. He wanted me to wait 2 months and then begin treatment, but I still wanted to lose about 10 more pounds and finances are looking like march will be better. I really hope that I can have success like you!!
