Default Levothyroxine (Synthroid)

I take the generic form of synthroid and have for a few years. Once the doctor seemed to find the right dosage and told me that my levels were "back to normal", I figured I should start seeing changes in energy levels. It's been about a year and my thyroid levels stay normal, but I still can't seem to get my energy levels back to normal. Any suggestions?

See if your Dr. is willing to try you on a little Cytomel (synthetic T3) along with the Levo. Cytomel seemed to give me a bump when I needed it, though it's not a cure-all for hypothyroid symptoms. I still have trouble conjuring up the energy to do lots of things, but I can get up a little easier in the morning now.

I have a similar problem and wrote a post on this a few days ago. I've been on levothyroxine for about 10 months and I still have zero energy despite my now "normal" TSH levels. I agree with what Lori said about the T3 meds. You should try to have your doc check your Free T3 levels and see if that might be an option for you to add.

Thank you guys. I have an appointment with my doc next month and I am going to ask him to check my T3 levels. Thanks again!

My doctor swears by the brand Synthroid and won't let me take generic and I take 25 mg of Cytomel. My TSH levels recently were 50 so I take 225 mcg of Synthroid (and I am also pregnant). It's crazy getting my levels stable.
