Default Levothyroxine & Why Questions

Why does it say to take Levothyroxine with plenty of water?
Why does it say to take Levothyroxine on a empty stomach?
Also what would happen if u didn't do these 2 things?

Anyone know?

They tell you to take it with plenty of water because it swells. If it got caught in your esophagus or throat it can swell in those places if not taken with plenty of water.
I'm pretty sure they tell you to take it on an empty stomach because that's just now it's absorbed best. Like I said it does swell, so maybe the presence of food would affect it.

I have been taking Levothyroxcin for a little better than 2 years now. When I asked my doctor about the timing and the water, she said it is a pill that can be affected by another medications or food when it comes to absorbtion. It works best if you take it on an empty stomach for that purpose. My understanding regarding the water is that it is to help the pill disolve and disperse into your blood stream faster. The water acts as a carrier for the pill.

Levoxyl brand levothyroxine is what I take and I read somewhere that it is formulated to dissolve almost instantly. I drink fast to push the pill down before it breaks up.
