Default Lexapro...

Hello everybody,

What side effects did you experienced when you first started taking Lexapro and how long before they went away? I started taking it yesterday and was only able to sleep two hours then I work up and was restless for the rest of the night. It could also be that my doc increased my Meformin dose from 500mg twice a day to 850mg twice a day plus I got medication for hypothyroid. I would really appreciate any advise on how to cope with side effects. Thank you all.

Technically, these things happened when I started taking celexa, when I transitioned to lexapro I had no problems, but maybe this will help.

Some symptoms that I wasn't warned about:
-I yawned all the time, uncontrollably
-I felt like an air head, like I couldn't quite focus all of my attention, no matter how hard I tried.

These both went away after a few weeks.

I still have issues with insomnia, and a lousy sex drive--although that could be from PCOS or my BCP, not entirely sure if its the Lexapro.

If you haven't checked out http://www.depressionforums.com, I'd suggest it. It was nice to know I wasn't going crazy with these unlisted side effects, that others were going through the same thing.

Oh my goodness, let's see.... I started taking it 2 months ago. The first 2 weeks were HE!!- Worse than not being on it. Temper was way up and very short, irritable, couldn't sleep at night, moody, it was terrible. I was going to quit taking it but stuck it out for at least 4 wks. When it turned 3 wks all of that went away and I felt A LOT better! I'm not as negative as I was before nor anxious just going to playdates. The only "side effect" I still have is that I have a hard time going to sleep at night. Dr. said it's ok so I've been taking 3mg of Melatonin every night. That helps me go to sleep and doesn't make me feel too sleepy in the mornings.
Lately I've been forgeting to take my Lexapro (10mg) and I can tell too! I remember to take it last night so I guess instead of taking it in the mornings I'll just take it at night from now on.

About lexapro and insomnia, I too have trouble remembering my pills in the morning (DH helps me), but I found that I sleep much better if I take it in the morning, instead of at night.
