Lexapro Withdrawal

I just took my last Lexapro yesterday. I was just wondering what type of withdrawal symptoms you have had after coming off of it? I was on 10mgs then the Dr changed it to 5mgs so that I would come off of it slowly.

Any info would be great!!!

Well I take 20mg and I have not taken any since last week Wednesday night *I ran out and no more refills seeing a new Dr. Friday* I notice that I am more tired, that I am more apt to cry at the drop of the hat. Wishing you lots of luck

I have been really feeling dizzy the last few days. Is this normal?

I was treated with lexapro, anad I was told dizzy/lightheadedness could happens as I came off. I honestly don't remember if I felt that or not - maybe slightly. My doc even had me go from 15 to 10 to 5 to 2.5, just to curb any withdrawal symptoms.

Thanks for responding!!! The dizziness has gotten slightly better but is still there.

I have also been noticing some heart palipitations. I am wondering if that can be caused as well by coming off?

If it's not 1 thing it's a million.

I just had to pop in and add my two cents- I came off lexapro three months ago, or maybe four by now, and I had been on SSRI's for almost ten years. I tapered verrrry gradually, and I still had horrible withdrawals- anxiety, tired, moody, rage, dizzy, nauseous, you name it. Quitting cigarettes was easier. I am just now starting to feel completely "normal". But, the severity of the w/d was probably b/c I was on them for so long. HTH!

Thanks for telling me how it effected you!!!! I have really been having a hard time. But I can tell it's slowly getting better. I was only on it for 6 months. I can't imagine the side effects after being on it for 10 years. I have wondered if it's even worth it to take something like that if you are going to feel worse then you did before starting.

Well, it was worth it to begin with, it kept me from being suicidal. But, what the docs don't tell you is that anti-depressants are *typically* only designed to be used for 6 mos to a year, until you've developed some coping strategies to deal with the depression. You're not supposed to be left on them longer than that unless it's necessary- in my case, I guess they just forgot!! LOL If you want, check out prozactruth.com, they have someinteresting info on that stuff. (Don't scare yourself though!!)
