I was on Wellbutrin as an antidepressant on and off for 2 years. It works differently than other antidepressants (less on serotonin and more on adrenalin) and can boost your energy a bit. First of all, if you are prone to anxiety, I wouldn't take it at all, cause it could make your anxiety worse. But I think that it's really irresponsible of your doctor to just throw pills at you (plus they're not cheap). Are you depressed? Do you have low energy, or just low libido? There are so many causes, and if you have PCOS it may just as easily be that you don't make enough Progesterone. I would get your hormone levels tested before you do anything else, and also figure out if you have any emotional blocks around sex. Wellbutrin can help some people increase sexual desire (especially if they are depressed in the first place), but it may not be the right solution for you.

Hi--

I just went to see a psychiatrist today because I have been in therapy for depression with weight and PCOS anyway...I have been on Celexa for about 3yrs and have had ZERO sex drive. This doctor suggested I try Wellbutrin. So I am going to give it a go. I would also be anxious in knowing if anyone has had positive results in terms of their sex drive???

I've been on Wellbutrin for about 6 months for depression surrounding PCOS. I haven't had any sexual side effects. It relieves depression and you do tend to have much more energy.

Good luck to you

My sex drive went through the roof when I went on Wellbutrin SR for depression. I had hardly had any sex drive for nearly three years when I used to be a total nympho, LOL! Unfortunately, I recently went on the pill and I think it has cancelled out a little of the effects.

I was on Ortho Tri-cyclen and Wellbutrin at the same time and the Wellbutrin did NOTHING to help my low sex drive. I think teh BCP's really wreak havoc on your libido!

My family doctor just put me on Wellbutrin SR. I told him I am stressed out depressed, get upset over anything react to being upset by crying or yelling, I don't sleep well, I have no energy. I do have anxiety but he said that maybe if we will get rid of my depression all the other stuff will go away also. He wants to see me once a month just to check up on how I am doing. He choose Wellbutrin because my RE said I can only have something category A or B.

I forgot to tell him but in the last 2 yrs my sex drive faded away, I know this is TMI but once I get started I am ok but to be honest I never start anything myself and if my husband didn't it would be months and I wouldn't notice.

I was told it will take a month before I see any results but oh boy do I hope it will help with the sex drive. I love my husband to death and I am attracted to him but I just lost my sex drive.

Default me too!

I too was just put on wellbutrin. I started last Wedneday. I have noticed alot of anxiety ( which I have anyway)--but I feel it alot more. I also noticed a decrease of appetite. Nothing looks good. (YEAH!!!!!) But the main reason why I went on it was for my sex drive. It hasn't kicked in yet---but it hasn't even been a week. Keep us posted if Wellbrutin newbies are experiencing a kick in sex drive.
