Hey, I've just started drinking licorice tea. Heard licorice can be helpful for PCOS ladies? I also LOVE the flavour of this yummy tea!! Any opinions? Anyone find licorice helpful at all?! xx

Licorice can reduce testosterone levels, so yes licorice might help. Licorice inhibits the breakdown of stress hormones (cortisol) which causes your adrenal glands to stop producing androgens.

I love licorice too! It's so good with cream

Licorice is also known to raise blood pressure so be careful -- especially if you take meds for high blood pressure.

Licorice also works well when combined with the herb Peony. As Deb said, it can affect blood pressure in some people, it is a good idea to take a break from it every 6-8 weeks for a week, then resume. Also, make sure BP is monitored regularly.
I also find that taking it in combination with dandelion can be good, as dandelion helps the body to retain more potassium, and lose excess sodium which may counteract the BP effects of the licorice. You can get dandelion in liquid from herbalists/naturopaths, or as a tea/coffee substitute.
