Licorice, dong quai, fo-ti, angelica root, cinnamon, ginger and clove in tea form
Recently I noticed this tea at my local co-op called Women's Liberty, made by Traditional Medicine. I decided to get it and try it because I have PCOS and irregular periods etc.
The tea has:
580mg of licorice root
280mg of wild yam root and rhizome, fermented
70 mg of dong quai root
30mg fo-ti tuber, cured
30mg angelica root
and
1010mg of a blend with
orange peel, ginger rhizome, cinnamon bar, and clove flower bud.
This stuff works - almost too well! It definitely makes me ovulate and have a period, but it is so strong I have one cup and I get a period the next day!
So...if you're looking for a way to get yourself ovulating, this might be it. But as of right now I don't know how to use it effectively because I've been having twice as many periods in the last 3 months than I should. That's NINE full periods and right now I'm on my tenth.
Anybody have any suggestions or have used these ingredients before to help treat themselves?
Dong Quai and Cinnamon are in the herbs I'm taking.
Angelica is in the herbs I'm taking too, maybe licorice as well, but I'm not as sure about that.
Does the box the tea came in have any instructions? You may need to take it through your period.

I have read someone else mention this herbal tea... they also seem to of had success. I tried looking for it in the UK and was not able to find it here.
It would have been something I would have really liked to try.
If you you log your temperature then maybe you can drink it until you ovulate and then stop until your periods are over.
Wishing you all the best....

Those are certainly the herbs to get things going. Interesting that they list angelica root and dong quai separately though...either way it sounds like a great find.

Praying For a Soy Joy!! TTC number 2 . Trying with vitex, soy and cinnamon. Throw in a little black and blue cohosh, epo, licorice and dong quai all for good measure.
Has anyone seen AF? She is MIA, if you find her please send her my way. Trying to move on to cycle number 2 of TTC #2
Linds it's the dong quai...it does taste like dirt and weeds. Add some honey and a cinnamon stick, or a licorice root stick (if you have no blood pressure issues).

I was able to get it at my local health food store. Our GNC sells that brand but they did not have that particular one, but a bigger GNC may carry it.

I just started taking this tea today. I think it tastes nice for an herbal tea! The box recommends 3-4 cups per day, but I am hesitant to start at this amount until I know how my body reacts. I tried taking Red Raspberry Leaf tea a few months back and had severe cramping. So, I take it slowly these days!
For PMS, it is recommended to take it from menstruation to ovulation. For menopausal symptoms--throughout the month but not during your period. I am not sure where this leaves us PCOSers...Any ideas?

In Chinese medicine it is said to be a stagnation of qi that causes PMS. This stagnancy usually starts to build up from ovulation untill menstruation. part of the function of this formula is to move the qi, hence the recommendation to take it after ovulation.
I'm not sure why it would be recommended for menopausal symptoms as there are more effective/appropriate for these.
PCOS from a Chinese medicine point of view, stagnation of qi and blood is one of the syndromes associated with PCOS, and this may be why this formula isd of help to some. I would be inclined to take it all the way through, except for when menstruating (the qi and blood are moving then, so unneccessary)for a couple of months and then if getting benefit, try it just for the second half of the cycle.
hope that helps
