has anyone heard of licorice and aiding in pcos symptoms? How do you take it and is it a liquid form or a powder?

I found this link...I can't tell if it means to take a pill or eat some licorice. I'd rather eat it myself. Can't tell how much either.

You can purchase liquid licorice at whole foods market. (it is about $10 for a small bottle.) I take one small dropper full in water 3 times a day. Also, I take red root liquid (also available at whole foods) which is supposed to help get rid of ovarian cysts.

I take it. I use empty capsules & take 2 a day, 10 days before my period is due. I found out from Linda aka LP that it shouldn't be taken every day.

Precautions

"Avoid prolonged use of licorice in large doses. This herbal remedy should be used for no longer than four to six weeks without medical advice. Pregnant women should not use the herb. Persons with high blood pressure or kidney disease should not use licorice, nor should those with cholestatic liver disorders or cirrhosis."

I know that some of the chinese herbals I was given by my acupuncturist contained licorice. They were only 10 day courses though, and were given specifically depending on my condition at the time, not just as a blanketed treatment for PCOS.
