Default Licorice and Peony -- anyone see results?

Hi everyone! I am about to start the natural attempt at regulating my PCOS after years on the Pill, and the licorice and peony combo that Kat has posted about really strikes me as my best option, as there have been scientific studies to support its effectiveness. I also found a really helpful book that's available to read online through Google Books. I'm not allowed to post links yet on this forum, but search for "Women, Hormones and the Menstrual Cycle" by Ruth Trickey, and then check out pg 358 of the book for specific info on why the licorice and peony combo works, and dosages (though they are Australian measurements, so convert accordingly).

Has anyone tried this herbal combo and had success? I know a lot of women swear by vitex, but it worries me as its results and recommendations seemed mixed. If you have any licorice & peony success stories in regulating your period or any other results, please post!!!

I would like to know where you got your licorice and peony. I too am wanting to try this. I found licorice at an herb store and have been putting some into my herbal tea brew. I haven't been able to locate peone anywhere.

it helped bring on a period and ovulation even while I was breast feeding full time, so it is very powerful in my opinion! I have been on it for a while....so far only a 30% - 40% reduction in facial hair and that has taken ages to see an effect but my facial hair is so so stubborn I wasnt even able to get rid of it with anti androgens on the pill and with laser so any reduction is helpful

side effects can be bothersome if you take too much, lack of sleep at night....

Wow, that is fantastic news, Pearl, thank you! I see that you take 5000mg of each; have you taken any breaks since starting the regimine, or have you been taking the herbs every day since day 1?
Thanks so much for sharing!

Hi all!

I took them in the follicular phase every day, no breaks, maybe 4 days break every 5 weeks or so, and it took around 3 weeks to get a full period HTH

I'm inducing AF now so that I can start Licorice/Peony during CD 5-7 (like taking Clomid). But I haven't been able to find a source yet! I have Licorice Capsules but no Peony. Anyone have an advice on where to pick them up?

I'm also doing acupuncture, Castor oil packs, and a GF/DF diet. I'll pretty much try anything!

I finally found Peone online from Mountain Rose Herbs. It wasn't very expensive - I ordered two pounds. I have been putting licorice root, rasberry leaf, cinnamon and ginger in an herbal tea - planning to add in the peone when it arrives. So, should I only take this during the follicular stage?

You can find white peony root at chinese pharmacys. Miquette: I used to live in Seattle and picked my white peony (bai shao) in the international district. Lots of herbal pharmacies there... make sure you research bai shao and print out a picture of the chinese way to spell it with symbols...
