I take licorice. The ones I have are capsules (the clear kind) with a light sage/olive green powder inside. They are not too big, and actually taste a little bit sweet if they touch my tongue.
I don't know about the combination. Licorice is supposed to lower testosterone, so I don't think that aspect has anything to do with Clomid. Licorice can also raise blood pressure (but mine has actually gone down, since I've also started exercising and eating better around the same time as I started the licorice). Unfortunately, I don't know anything more about the potential interactions. I can tell you that I took soy (which can be used like Clomid) for my last two cycles and ovulated both times, while taking Licorice all along. I only take one licorice capsule a day, though, so this dose might be low. I started at a higher level, but as I saw it working, in combination with my new "lifestyle", I've reduced my dosage.
Oh, also...I don't know at what dosage this becomes an issue, but licorice might have sugar in it. I'm not sure. Some people are concerned with their sugar intake (but I limit sugar in my diet, so I'm not too worried about one small pill a day). Also, it might be more effective if taken with peony extract, but I've only ever used licorice.
Good luck!!! |
