Have any of you ladies got life insurance after being Dx with PCOS? I am trying right now and they are putting me in the worst health class because of it. I am normal weight and have no other health problems. Is there any way to get around this issue?

Insurance and the health system are very different in NZ from the US but I was assessed for health and life insurance not so long ago through my partners employer. They weren't worried about PCOS, if I had full blown diabetes they said my premiums would have increased to reflect that.
I guess being 21 they know they still have a few years of sucking money out of me! lol

Thankfully my employer does not place limitations on pre-existing conditions (although since I got Dx'ed after working here for 10+ years, it isn't an issue anyway).
Have you tried checking out other insurance companies?

I am a licensed Life, Accident, Health Insurance agent.. to be honest this is the first time I've ever heard of anyone being put into low health class because of PCOS I have a policy on myself which I just picked up in June and the company I went through was more concerned about my IR when I mentioned I was Met during the screening.. then again I only know the laws here in the US on pre existing conditions
I have life insurance and my PCOS wasn't ever an issue. I work for an insurance agency. I will ask my agents on Monday if they can rate you differently because of the PCOS. I will let you know!

If your blood lipids, glucose and weight are normal, it would be very unusual for them to give you a substandard rate. Are you applying for a large face amount? Underwriters tend to scrutinize those more by looking at what is available from the medical information bureau and previous medical history.
Did you have to have a medical exam to apply? If not, maybe you should look around for a policy that requires one instead of asking medical questions on the application, since you are healthy.
Have you ever looked into Modern Woodmen of America? They are awesome... I have a policy for myself and they didn't mention my health status...they just asked if I took meds or had any condition. I am overweight and still got GREAT coverage!
I recently got new life insurance. They had a nurse come to our house and do bloodwork and blood pressure etc. They didn't increase the cost of it because of PCOS at all, it wasn't an issue. Good luck I hope you find something that will work better.

I work in Life Insurance. What company was that? If it was a real cheap carrier and not a very good company ratings wise - I am would not be surprised. You really need to be careful who you have life insurance with. Just because it is super cheap does not mean that they will be good about paying the claim. You need to look at their ratings and see how reliable they are.
That is odd to me you are having trouble getting life insurance due to your PCOS. I have not ever had and issue with it and I have been dx. now for almost 10yr.I know that whenever we have had to list it that they ask alot of medically questions about it and what it is but they always approve me with no problems. If I were you I might consider looking into several different life insurance companies. Good luck
I first tried Zander insurance, its a broker and they said their underwriter put me in the worst health class. Right now I am trying to go thru Select Quote and I got a quote from ING and so far the PCOS isnt a problem, but the policy isnt final yet.
