Just wondering if anyone else has reddish/purplish vertical stretch marks on their tummies, thighs, breasts. I weighed 138 when I got married 2.5 years ago, and since then have gained about 25-30 pounds. With the weight gain came some pretty ugly stretch marks (described above).
I thought most people's stretch marks were clear/white/skin colored. Just want to make sure something's not wrong. My doctor has seen them, but I don't think he even cares enough to tell me if something might be wrong.
Help! Thanks
Susan

They are new stretch marks... they will eventually fade... and become clear white color! They are not really anything to worry about... I would suggest getting some stretch mark cream... that can help them fade faster....
How well your skin will stretch when you gain weight has a lot to do with your genes. I must have horrible genes, I have stretch marks that go up and down my stomach and then across too! They do fade with time but never go away. I started getting new ones when I was 4 months pregnant and I gave up on the cream because it looked like I was already doomed. Mine start at 4 inches under my breasts and go all the way into my thighs. If I ever lose all this weight it'll look like a big bag of wrinkles! oh well , life goes on, can't be young forever i suppose....

I too have stretch marks. I think I read somewhere that it can be a symptom of PCOS... I'll have to try to find it when I have some time and post the link. I just got tired of worrying about it, it didn't do any good to worry over something that I couldn't fix. *sigh*

I too have them. I was wondering if they were a sign of PCOS. With all of my weight fluctuation, I've had them since I was 14. Stinks to realize they'll never go away...but I've learned to overlook them. Only thing that bothers me about them now...is summertime. When I have to put on that dreaded swimsuit. I've tried creams...heck, I've tried everything. I do know that they say to keep them "hydrated"....the more moisture the better. So I bathe in lotion everyday...and it does seem to help.
