Default Is lightheadedness a possible side effect from Met??

Has anyone else had this as a side effect from Met?? Has anyone had side effects start up again after switching to another companies brand? I've been taking Metformin HCL 850mg(twice a day) for about a month now and have had very little side effects from it. For a couple of days after starting Met though, i seemed to get a little spacey or lightheaded around 2 or 3 in the afternoon and would last for a little while and go away. This went on for a couple of days and then stopped. I had to switch my Met prescription to another pharmacy this month and they didn't have the same brand that I've been taking, so I just started on the new brand yesterday. This afternoon around 3P I started getting that lightheaded, spacey feeling again. Could switching brands be the cause of this??

TIA!!

It could be that you are hypoglycemic. I know that I start to feel that way in that hour of the afternoon. On met, your body is processing sugars MUCH more efficiently, so you are more likely to get hypoglycemic while getting used to met. Whenever I increased my dose or started met again, I had to keep some hard candies with me in case I started feeling this way. Try it out and see if it helps.

Goldendoll.....was your dizziness/light-headedness happening at any certain time of the day. Mine occurs right after I've eaten lunch...like within a a half an hour. I am taking 850mg in the morning with breakfast and 850mg at dinner.
