New to the site, but not new to PCOS.

My story is probably not unique. I think the first time I was diagnosed was back in 1995, but the doctor didn't really tell me what I had, she just gave me progesterone to start my period, some BCPs, and off I went.

It's taken over 10 years for a cadre of doctors to really tell me that I had PCOS, although I probably diagnosed myself years earlier.

I needed/wanted something to explain my weight gain, my lack of periods... you know the drill.

I guess finally now... 2007 and 2008, I'll really get to the bottom of it.

More than anything else, I want to be able to join the Diet boards, because I need to lose weight. My weight has been steadily climbing for years now -- I've rarely stayed stable, and I am uncomfortable like this, my body is not handling it well (insulin resistance and such) and I really don't want to wake up, be 45 and feel like I am 85 years old.

Anyway, I just wanted to say hi, say a little about myself, and hopefully, I'll be posting a lot more. I need the support. I have felt so alone in this for so many years... Even my sister who has PCOS too... she doesn't like to talk about it at all... And my mother thinks it's all in my head!

Welcome!

I've also had a problem with weight and other issues most of my life, and it wasn't until recently that I found out about PCOS at all. Another friend who does have PCOS hates to talk about it, so I am also glad that this community exists. Glad to meet ya!
