Unhappy A little help ladies - Results

Hi there,

Well, had appointment with consultant today to get back all my test results.
Firstly I give yoy my blood test results:

FSH 9.7
LH 5.3
Oestreadiol 93
Prolactin 917
TSH 2.41
Free Thyroxine 14.5

Now, I was told that all but one of these were in the 'normal' range (I wasn't told which one wasn't and didn't think to ask - I think it must be prolactin?) He has diagnosed PCOS but is telling me the best thing to do is to carry on loosing weight (I've lost approx 24lbs since I saw him 3 months ago). He says he does not want to put me on medication yet.
I have to have another blood test during my next period and will be tested for insuline then too.....
So that was all he said about PCOS and told me to go back in 3 months for a review.

The other thing we discussed was my septus uterus (I'm not sure how many of you know about this????) Basically it is a line of skin that separates my uterus in half - it causes complications in pregancy with miscarriage likely....from what research I have done, it is very easy to remove it.
But my consultant had told me that he thinks its best to wait and see if it causes a problem, and then if it does then it will be removed! That means he wants to make me take a higher risk of misscariage before doing anything about it.

In some ways I am pleased because it looks as though my PCOS is not as bad as I thought, although this does not help me when I am bedridden during my periods and crying my eyes out becuase I am not pregnant.

I just don't think he really helped me and I'm not sure what to do now - whether I wait until three months and then bring up my concerns about leaving everything or whether to ask to see him again or what?

Anyways, all you opinions would be appreciated on my results, and my experience and what I should do now, as I am very confused about the whole thing really.

Thanks

hi..we really need you to get the test ranges for the results and repost so we can help you..

also as far as thryoid goes...to get accurate readings you need the tsh,, and free t3 and free t4... the free levels measure what is actually in your bloodstream ... www.thyroid.about.com is a great source of info for that xox jenn

Hi Nyksta...this quote just jumped right out at me...this is exactly the attitude my doc had when i had a high risk pregnacy...i told him i wanted certain things done and he refused because of basically the same attitude! Well when my babies died i was livid...i'd TOLD them i was concerned and all they could say..we couldnt be sure it would be a problem...its a diagnosis based on 'history'! NEXT TIME we'll fix it...yeah right thanks alot! stupid morons!

Thats CRAP!!! why not deal with your septus uterus before trying to get pregnant if they even THINK it could be a problem...why put yourself through the torture after and then blame yourself later like i did...

i'm not trying to hijack your thread but dont let them talk you out of stuff if you feel it could be a problem later...and if i'm a little hyper i apologize...but i feel strongly about this! Goodluck with everything!

hi nyk..well the oestridial looks low... i am not sure where you were in your cycle..but regardless..you would think it would be more midrange..

the free thyroxine is on the low side of the range too....

i would get a tsh, free t3 and free t4 to make sure your thryoid is fine...

and the lh and fsh are not in a one to one ratio... so thats indicating pcos too...

i hope this helps a bit xoxo jenn

Ladies,

Many Thanks for all your replies.

kwannabee, that is exactly what I thought - why wait and see? I've been told it is a simple procedure that can be done with key hole surgery so I don't see what the problem is.

I think the doctor sees that i am only 20 and that I have plenty of years ahead to deal with all these problems. but my partner is 37 and we would like to have children soon.

thanks for your help on my results prunepie, I'm very grateful you have taken the time to help me.

I think I am going to do these three months and see how the weight loss goes - me and my partner are not exactly trying seriously at the moment. I have a another set of bloods to be done in between so I shall see how those results come back. But in my next appointment I shall deffinately be demanding that they deal with the septum or have a bloody good excuse not too.

Thanks again

Best Wishes
Nyk x
